Default Beverly Hills vs. Palo Alto...

I applied at both departments, but unfortunately they have the same test date. Does anyone know how many recruits each department are hiring or anything else about the hiring process for each of these departments? I'd rather test at the place hiring the most people. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, I do not have the inside track like Chief Lepore but I did read that Palo Alto is in arbitration with the city for their new contract. Additionally, they are talking about cutting staff and brownouts. Search google news for Palo Alto Firefighters and you'll get plenty of info.

Thanks guys. I'm not worried about the background...I'm clean, have passed two backgrounds (one last month that was pretty exhaustive), and don't have anything to worry about in that regard (as far as I know!!!).

It sounds like both departments are fighting budgets and financial issues (I've seen the news articles, heard the rumors, etc.)...I'll probably go with Beverly Hills as I live in southern California unless I hear information that leads somewhere else...

If anything hears anything else, I'd love to know.

Me personally disregarding the fact I live in So. Cal, Im looking at my odds. BHFD only took a couple hundred applications vs Palo Alto taking apps for two days. I rather take the small stack.

I mean, yeah guys take the Palo Alto test, forget BH. Less of the couple hundred to take the test.

you must use the alternative way to solve the problem because current way is not satisfactory for the solution the problem that you faced at this time.

I got a Chief's interview August 16...Ranked #8...probably just high enough for a chief's interview and just low enough to not get an offer, but anything can happen.

    Any advice?

Mitchell you are in a spot. This is great department with an excellent community, staff, facilities, and equipment. I'm sure you know that. I interviewed and was placed on the eligible list as well. I was informed by HR that the top 12 are going to have a talk with the Chief and the remaining 11 are in tier 2 on standby. I'm part of the 11. Good luck, I'm sure you will do well.

Yeah...I'm excited about the prospect of working for the BHFD - it seems amazing. And I'm going to do my best to kill my chief's interview. I just wonder if it's one of those that is more an "approval" interview than something that can help change the ranks...

Good job on passing the interview RECEO...

I hate to hope others fail at anything, but I'd love to jump a couple of spots and be one of the 5 that gets an offer...
