I am interested in becoming a volunteer at this department, I spoke with a Captain who handles some of the volunteering, I would like to know more about this department if anyone knows something. Thanks

    Just looked at thier website.

They seem pretty progressive, much like the department you just left, without the animal control function.

Yes I already checked out their website, they seem pretty well organized, the Captain I spoke with told me they give EMT-B to their volunteers, it's a pre-requistie during the Basic Training School. I was just wondering about the organization and how their alarms work and etc, just basic stuff. Their resources are pretty well spread out, but they have automatic mutual aid requests with James City County and the City of Williamsburg. Hopefully I'll be able to volunteer in the same capacity as I used to be in.

York is a fine department, one of the guys I volunteer with works down there. I also took an officer level class with some of their officers. Good people, aggressive, and new equipment.

Just a thought, you might check next door to York at the James City-Bruton VFD, Company 1. They're running 2 engines, a tower ladder, heavy rescue, and a couple of brush trucks. Good group of vollies down there, and good relationship with the career guys at the station as well.
