This is such a lightweight topic, I'm almost embarrassed to post it. But here goes.
We recently acquired a crew-cab F-350. It has oversized side-view mirrors with supports that make the driver's door "un-letterable".
Does anybody have a photo of a crew cab that has been lettered on the rear doors? Does everybody like how it looks?
Again, I know this is kind of a "wut kind of lite bar do u have" topic, but we're repainting it and striping it, so we want it to look professional.

The best I can do for you is show you some F350's with regular mirrors. Not much help, huh?

I had thought about that but I thought the big chrome supports might obstruct the view of the letters. But of course, the mirrors are coming off for paint anyway, so we may take a stab at it.Quote:

That's a thought. It's a '93 F350, and those boogers are everywhere.
What about just doing a smaller version of your patch thats on the other trucks?
We have a 1996 F-350 still hanging around that has the style of mirror bracing you're talking about. Unit number on front door, department name on rear cab door.

If you decide to look into a door swap, anything from a 87- 96 Ford pickup should be interchangeable. 80-86 doors would also work, but the interior panels wold be vastly different.

I have lettered several trucks with both gold leaf and vinyl that have had similar mirror arrangements with no problems. Most times I could plan for the lower/aft bracket to line up in a space in the wording or at least between letters. If you have a creative lettering guy it shouldn't be a problem. If you post a picture of your door looking straight on, and a picture of what you're trying to replicate, I'd be more then happy to do up a rendering for you and everyone to see.
Well, if anyone is curious, we worked it out. I had gotten this idea early on but was afraid the crack between the front & rear doors would make the lettering look jakey or hard to read. I think it turned out great.
p.s. Vendor ran out of Scotchlite before getting that last spot past the wheel well. It's been ordered!
