    Which job?

    Screw all the bull***** from the bean counting fairy whip fruitbags who's long list of "certifications" arent worth the paper they are printed on.

    Fighting fires and taking care of people is still a great job.

    Same here in KY.
    Am I being effective in my efforts or am I merely showing up in my fireman costume to watch a house burn down? (Joe Brown, www.justlookingbusy.wordpress.com)

    Every couple of shifts we run a medical on some random I.T. guy working in some cubical in a giant office complex, they always seem to be having a panic attack (for which I suggest administering epi and nitro, but my officer denies my recommendation). Anyways, after running that type of call I really sit and wonder;

    "What is the high-light of that person's day?"
    -completing a computer program?
    -fresh coffee and bagels in the break room?
    -going home?

    Then I think of how good I have it. Some silly city management guy thinks it is a great idea to pay me to do what I love. Riding to emergencies, helping people in need, FIGHTING FIRES... Even the crappy stuff like working a CPR gives me great personal satisfaction because I gave that person my best damn effort, care and compassion.

    F'ing love this job.

    We get to ride around in fire trucks, and run the siren . . . kids don't dream of desk jobs, or pretend to be computer programmers. . . it really doesn't get better than this.

    How many of you remember running out to the curb to wave at the trucks as they went by? I did and loved it. Now I drive one of those trucks as they rush by.. Damn I love this job..
