From what I have heard there are fewer now than the last process. As of about a week ago it was at about 2500, so the odds seem much better than before...

Apparently people that apply wait till the last minute though, because word today is somewhere around 4200 I believe. Regardless my best advice for the test is study what you can and when you get there just know its only your score that counts, don't get freaked out by the amount of people testing with you. If you are fortunate to move further in the process be sure to start running. Good Luck to all of y'all this is definitely an amazing Fire Department to be on.

Run doesn't mean run 1.5mi at a 12:00 pace 3 days a week. Run sprints, run hills, sprint up hills. A good goal is sub-9:00 for a minimum of 2 miles but be ready to run 6-8.

Definitely true, for Fire Academy you will run quite a bit, so once again, a really good pair of shoes will be your best friend. We run at least two miles when we run in the academy.

    2 questions:

    1. what time is the test?

    2. I can run 4.5 miles in roughly 40 mins usually a little less, how does that sound as of right now? I am not done, I would like to be at 7 or 8 miles in an hr but as a benchmark for now how is 4.5 in 40 mins?

I received my acceptance email too! Good luck to everyone taking this test! Let me know if anyone wants to hook up, and tour Fort Worth and some FW stations as well. I am flying from North Dakota and will be renting a car. Safe travels to all, coming to the test!

I would say keep it up because no matter what the fire academy is going to be a challenge on stamina and strength just because you can run along time or lift a lot, doesn't account for much when you have all your bunker gear on. We will run 5 miles and that day you will be outside in bunker gear all day in 100+ degree heat and no matter what it will be a whooping.

If you bought the study guide and have been studying that, then that's all. Just try to relax when you take the test and just focus on it and not all the people taking it with you... good luck on tuesday everybody

    Eh That wasn't so hard
    a BUUUUUNCH of applicants
    2000+ I daresay
lol a few observances from the test

What's with this question about Domestic Violence?

[EDITTED OUT cause I don't want to get in trouble for that whole confidentiality thing]

    Also

Why are there so many Hypothetical female firefighters?
A roomfull of ~2000 applicants and maybe three of them were female
Hypothetical Joan, the Firefighter, doesn't seem to exist
Was this test put together by feminists??

that test wasn't bad at all. I would say well over 2,000...mabye 3,000+

I disagree with your answer analysis, but I wont speculate anymore than that on the test, b/c at the beginning of the test is a confidential statement that declares you wont cheat or take any questions out of the exam. It is not a good idea to take questioms from the exam, might want to think about your post.

females: I am guessing you showed up late. The females show up early as they want to be prepared b/c the odds are already stacked up against them. There were at least a dozen in my near vacinity.

There was one about a house fire that had a woman with bruises
She said that the bruises came from an accident Rollerblading
    Firefighter Joan was unconvinced
"What is the most likely cause of her bruise?"

    a) something stupid
    b) something equally stupid
    c) !OMG DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!
    d) Accident from rollerblading

The way it was worded, and the way it was set up leads you to believe that it WANTS you to answer "c"

But statistically speaking, "D" is a much more likely the cause of her bruising than DV, and not only that but because mom explicitly said it was from Rollerblading.

    hmm...tricky question...

The domestic violence question came straight out of the Ft Worth study guide, the answer was most definitely C. In fact, every single question in their study guide appeared in the exam at least once.
