How do you calculate GS base pay

I know the base salary posted for DOD positions are not including the actual amount so how much more is added and for what I know automatic overtime is fixed in but is there anything else I saw a job for GS4 @34,000 but a DOD firefighter friend of mine says never go by what they post because its more.Anybody got any info on this'........

There are a whole bunch of factors.
-Region allowance
-Hazardous pay
-Chinese overtime

It's impossible to say without knowing more. You should contact the CPOC of wherever this is concerning for a true answer.

this thing is spot on. it will tell you what your true take-home pay is and retirement pay is with all the chinese overtime calculated in already.
