"I spoke with the City of Toledo Human Resources Dept today and was told that due to the extreme workload they currently have; coupled with being understaffed that unfortunately it will probably be another 3-4 weeks until results of the Civil Service Exam are known. Not the greatest news but at least its an update, please try to be patient."

This was copied from the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department Recruitment facebook page about an hour ago.

I got another speeding ticket today. I think I read in a previous thread that 10 tickets in 10 years will bump you. I think I'm pretty damn close.

10 points will bump you out, i think 10 tickets would equal 10 points.

I'd say they are waiting as long as possible to certify the list. The chances of anybody gettting hired soon are probably getting smaller by the day. Kasich's new budget cuts funding for municipal safety forces by half. To make matters worse, the new Republican legislature has forced thru the repeal of the tax on estates worth 3 million or more. This money was used primarily to fund safety forces. Better to cut safety forces than have the rich pay taxes.

    According to this link:

    http://www.ci.toledo.oh.us/Departmen...4/Default.aspx

The list will be posted online by Sept 16th. Letters to go out after that. I've heard some rumors that the "you failed" letters have already gone out though.

The list is established. There is a link up to it on the HR website. However, the link doesn't work yet. Probably know by tonight.

Remember that not all "classes" are created equal. When you look to previous posts fo reference, remember those two classes were 40 and 50 recruits each, Those were 2 of the biggest classes in TFRD history. As stated on the TFRD FB page, it is not so cut and dry how far they go back on the list and why they go so far back on ay given list. Many factors play a part including demographic requirements being met. But to give all a reference point to this list, the first class went well in the 150's to find its last person, and the next class went into the mid 350's. Again, remember that these were unique circumstances, b/c of how quickly the class tunover was ( each class was just a year apart) and the size of the classes (40/50 size classes are the exception not the normal rule).

The letters sent out will state no more than your score and rank. If you move on, you will get another letter notifying you of the next step.

I scored close to the top of the list. Surprised myself really. I'm not taking anything for granted or expecting anything, just patiently waiting for the process to continue. As evidenced by some postings on the Facebook page, people just get rude and impatient. First the results don't come out quick enough, then when they do come out there aren't enough details, then when are they doing backgrounds, etc, etc?

If I have learned anything from the hiring process at my current department, when they get to you, they get to you. Nothing that you can say or do will speed things up so just go with the flow.

2 years, unless they get an extension towards the end of the expiration

    Congrats backsteprescue123 and trekker!
The list is usually good for 2 years, but they can extend it if they want. That's what happened from the 2001 list. I got called for an interview in 2006 but couldn't go because my husband had just gotten a job out here.
So if you are in the top 100, you will most likely get background checked for this upcoming class. The higher you are, the better your chances.

Default Excited and Nervous at the same time

I scored a 91.8%. My only thing is, that the last time I took the test, in the letter that we received it stated how many were moving on. This letter didn't specify. Im anxious.
