Don't sweat the background interview. Its very easy. Basically the detective is going to review the background packet that you filled out and ask you any questions they may have. You will both then sign and date each page to show that you went over it. Takes maybe 20 minutes or so.

I haven't been called yet, but it looks like they are up into the 130's from what I've heard. So I am getting close.
Do any of you that have been called know if it is pass/fail on the background and if they still use a point system?
Also, how many points would a bankruptcy get me?
And, any word yet on how many, and when they may be hiring a class?

bobj,
Last time I went through the Background check (2008) I think it was based on a ten point scoring system. Ten points being the max. More than ten points and you weren't considered a candidate for that class. As far as how they scored it, or deemed something point worthy I'm not really sure. I know once the background was complete, they called you and you went to one government center and looked through it. If you received points for something, you were given the chance to dispute it. As far as class size and hiring date, I don't think anybody really knows.

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully the bankruptcy won't affect me that much. Other than that, I've had a few tickets and that's it. So I should be good.
Have to get a call first though. Trying not to get too excited.

Do you think they will wait until after the SB5 vote to settle on a number (if any) to hire. As I understand it, the staffing requirement of 103 in the contract would be tossed out if "SB5/Issue 2" is upheld by the voters. If that happens, and the city decides to re-man at 80-90, there would be no reason to hire new people.
Anyone?

still would depend on how many retire, depending of the sb5/2 issue that number may change. guess we will have to wait and see.

THE city gave the detectives the permission to move the background checks back to December 16, 2011. THey needed more time.

No problem. My dectective called me to let me know. He said he just didn't want me to be waiting and not knowing what was going on. The detectives felt they gave them too little time to do 140 ppl
