Default Not just another helmet thread

Yes, Im aware helmet threads have been done to death on this forum in general..

But im trying to find some specific information regarding them..

As a light USAR and emergency response team, that has some now ageing gear we are looking to replace our helmets with newer and more comfortable helmets.

We are currently using the Pacific Helmets with a torch pod, these are produced locally here in NZ, but are relatively heavy heavy for the work we do, being kevlar and get rather hot during summer due to not being vented, also with the torch pod, when the torch is in they add a bit more weight to your head..

We are currently looking at the Petzl Vertex Vent, the Black Diamond Half dome and I believe CMC Rescue also do a vented helmet..

Does anybody have experience with these or have suitable others?

they need to be vented or have the option of venting due to being involved with flood and storm response to a limited extent (we already have specialized water rescue helmets as part of the swiftwater kit)

    Dave,
I've used a bunch of different helmets and if light weight is what you're looking for the Petzl Vertex Vent is great also the CMC Super Plasma. The CMC helmet seems to be constructed a bit better.
I'm a fan of great helmets so..... Nice post.

    Cheers Mike,

Will have a look at both and see what prices we can come up with, fortunately the Petzl is also sold here to a limited point, but the CMC isnt, so might end up going with Petzl due to shipping costs and being able to trial it.
