That would probably be cool for the first half hour or so, then it would get annoying real quick.

Not really. There are hundreds of airports with the active that close to the water.

Why would this be a crash waiting to happen? Operations at that airport have been going on like that for decades. In fact, it is a tourist attraction. There are many many airports where the runway ends at the water, not before a beach too.

I've flown my Citation X to Princess Juliana International 3 times in 10 years. Never an issue with the people on the beach, or anything else. What IS fun to watch, is a Boeing 747-400 coming in. That will excite the masses.

Yup, it's been happening here in NY since the 1930's with only a few incidents.

'cause nothing says romantic beach getaway like 100 decibels of engine screaming over your head. Hardly a Corona commercial..

As was mentioned earlier, I can see this being cool for the first two planes then I'm finding somewhere else.

Unless you like airplanes, in which case you'd spend the entire day there watching and getting blown over.

Bingo! Went to Mako Beach, saw a plane land, dusted the sand out of every crevice and went about 1 mile west to one of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean.

They had to put that first sign up as a disclaimer because morons like to hang on the airport fence and get blown off breaking bones and beat up.

And after listening to Harriers land for the past three years at MCAS Cherry Point I think I'll pass on that beach. Don't care to have my ears destroyed anymore.

People STILL hang onto the fence. And when I finally go there someday, it will be my first stop too

HAHA, yeah, it's the airport's way of denying any accountability for injuries. YOu have fun with that. Once I EAS I plan on being as far away from jet engines as I can possibly be.

"Mythbusters" did an episode on whether or not a taxi cab(rim shot!) passing near an active runway could be flipped over by a jet engine.
They tried but no cigar. The car suffered torn off bumpers and the interior was ripped up by the wind blast but no spectacular flips.
They did re-visit the myth with a school bus.
Now THAT was a flippin' good time as they say over in Flippin,Arkansas.
That Bluebird built bus went over on its side and rolled numerous times before the roof collapsed on the chassis while on its back.
