Default Fathers Day June 17, 2001 - 3 FDNY Members died

Fathers Day June 17, 2001, 3 members of the FDNY die in the Long Island General Supply store fire.

The relative calm was broken at 2:19PM with a phone call to the Queens central office reporting a fire at 12-22 Astoria Blvd. Units arrived within 5 minutes and gave the signal for a working fire. Fire fighters were making good progress but at 2:48PM something went terribly wrong.

I remember reading about it in Downey's book. Gaining insight into it from start to finish and the mental toll it took on great men and all of rescue 2 is something I'll never forget.

I understand, the book was on rescue 2 and they responded to the incident, thats the only reason i mentioned them. Sorry for the confusion.
