The Fire Service also lost three FDNY members on Father's Day in 2001.

Rest easy to Brothers Ford, Downing, and Fahey, as well as our Memphis Brothers Kirk and Zachary. You'll not be forgotten.

I can still remember that Sunday evening when I received a call from my cousin (LT T-8) as he was being sent to a 2nd alarm fire, I told him to be safe and I"ll see him tomorrow for beers. 15 minutes later I receive a call that 6 brothers are missing in a collapse at a commercial fire. The next 30 minutes were pure hell, his wife was calling me because she saw it on the news and I couldn't give her any info, the number of missing members kept changing, we heard that R-2 had pulled out out to members of T-6 and there was still more missing. We decided to go to the Burn center downtown and await word. In the mean time I was told that FF Zachery was pulled out and was in full arrest and LT. Kirk was still missing, all other members had been accounted for. We made it to the burn center as the Unit was bringing in FF Zachery. I'm not sure how long it was, but we were there when the Unit brought in LT. Kirk, his body was covered with a sheet and my good friend that transported him and made sure his helmet stayed with him the entire time. We formed a human wall so the media couldn't not get any footage of this brave man. I did not know LT Kirk well and had worked with Zachery only a few times, but these men are on my mind every day I go to work. I apologize for any misspellings and run on sentences, but I just wanted to let that be known. Rest In Peace brothers, we'll take from here. Your friend and co worker dano
