    Default Anyone know ASL

I am self teaching and intend on taking a class in the fall.

I was wondering if there are any phases or sentences that you have found especially helpful in the ems/fire service?

You might find this guide fits the bill. I got it years ago after reading an article in FH about dealing with the deaf.

It seems to include a good number of signs that we'd need on a day to day basis.

I took a sign language class quite a while ago, and while I still remember some of it, and most all of the alphabet, "rusty" would be a good description of my skills in ASL.

Learn the alphabet and you can fingerspell what you don't know the signs for.

If you can work out the back-to-back printing, the guide folds nicely to fit in a pocket.
Opinions my own. Standard disclaimers apply.

Your local library will have a lot of great books on ASL. I dated a deaf/hearing impaired (which ever makes you feel more PC about it) girl in my younger days & learned a lot of the "short cuts" from her. Wish I could say I remember a lot of it but i don't. I only truly remember the stuff that made me laugh the most. B.S. being one of them...lol

Thank you guys alot of good info already in 3 posts. My ABC's are the first thing I learned because I have heard that before if you know those you can manage your way through if you forget a sign.

ASLpro good site to know for studing and having a smart phone.

Libariy I always seem to forget about there. Havn't been in years. And I just learned the sign for BS the other day it is a funny one kind of hard not to get the idea of what someone is saying.
