Some questions about testing (NYC)

My vision is less than perfect. It's not that bad, and I'd be willing to undergo lasik or some other corrective surgery for the job, but how is this weighted during the time of the physical test? Can you wear contacts during the test? If you fail the vision part of the medical, will they allow you to try again after surgery? I read that every state had different opinions/requirements about that and was hoping someone would know about NYC.

I dont think it will be that much of a handycap for you. As long as you can see with glasses and or contacts you will be ok. I have seen people wear glasses under an SCBA mask many times.

Fdny you cant wear glasses or contacts have to get lasik

Many candidates have gotten the Lasik surgery in order to make sure they pass the eye exam of the medical. Do it now while you can.

Glasses and contacts are not allowed for the eye exam. Technically if you are found to be wearing contacts during the exam, you will be disqualified.
