    Default Parade Detail!

Since the Forth is coming up why not talk about parades? Do y'all do anything special to help entertain the audience? Do you still throw candy? We've had to stop due to concerns that kids will dive in front of trucks at the sight of sugar...

We used to do a short parade when I retired five years ago. Now since I'm back it doesn't appear that we do one anymore. The city to the south of us invited us to bring a couple of trucks to their parade. We still toss out candy and my oldest son will be in the cab of one of the trucks for his first time in a fire truck.

Texas is so dry right now that all fireworks have been banned. Most cities have canceled their firework shows as well. The local racetrack here is still going to do one and that is going to be tonight. We are going to be well prepared for it, hopefully nothing will happen.

According to the Coast Guard Marine safety broadcasts in the past week, there are fireworks shows all up and down the Lower Mississippi this year. With all the safety zones this weekend,I think most tows are gonna be shoved in as close as they can get to enjoy the show and get underway again as soon as possible.
I've crewed several fireworks shows on the towboat pushing the barge they are launched from.Pretty cool.If you sit near any part of the boat superstructure, you can catch the concussion twice. It passes through you when the display is launched and again bouncing off the side of the boat.Sometimes you get another effect when the firework goes off and does the whole thing again.
Anyway,my old fire department stopped tossing candy because of the safety issue of the following vehicle might not see the li'l darlin's.We've had to have walkers alongside the rig handing out candy which worked out okay.

Did you see Steven Colbert's sketch about that? Pretty funny!

    Thanks.

One thing I did notice tonight was that fireworks do not show up on the thermal cam.

But breast implants do which is why we'd have the TIC deployed during The P-rade.
It might could be because they are too far away when launched and/or detonated. You ARE standing outside the hot zone when they light them fuses, aren't you?

My theory is that there isn't enough surface space for the TIC to pick up a heat signature, especially from the distance we were and how high the fireworks were exploding.
