I am passing through Penn. in another week. Might have time to stop and shoot some historic structures.
Does anyone happen to have any handy lists of historic fire stations (addresses, year built, etc.) in either York or Reading? These can be active or inactive stations.
Thanks greatly in advance.

Come join us over at firepics.net ... there are a couple of Reading guys on the board who've done a great job of capturing the history of the RFD. There are several pages of photos that might interest you.

Some quick research and consulting a York FD yearbook yields this list. There might be a couple more in town, for all I know:
Station 1 - Rex/Laurel
49 South Duke Street
1878
Station 2 - Vigilant
273 West Market Street
1974
Not historic, but included to be complete
Station 5 - Goodwill
833 East Market Street
1903
Station 9 - Lincoln
800 Roosevelt Avenue
1946
Old Station 6 - Royal - Museum
757 West Market St.
1903
Old Station 7 - Eagle
Jackson and Jessop
1912
Old Station 4 - Rescue
S. George near W. Church
1874 - Closed 1970

Boy, hearing the York FD mentioned brought back a lot of memories for me. My Grandparents lived about 2 blocks from Lincoln Engine Co. No. 9. In those days they used to use the fire horn on top of the building and the siren used to go off at 12noon and 5pm.
My Grandfather was a member there and my Dad an Honorary member; in fact my dad took 16mm movies pics back in the late 40's of the new '47 or '48 LaFrance Foamite they had just received. I have to get them transferred to a file that i can post on line so anyone can view them."Did you check under the bed?" -- Judge Crater, 1930
