Yeah. Right."We wanted to use our resources wisely and strategically," he told the newspaper. "We are not putting (firefighters) at any additional risk. I think it enhances their ability to connect with the community."
And no, I'm not a firefighter. But anybody with even half a brain cell would recognize that statement as pure baloney. Leave it to the police.Last edited by Blue Bell; 07-14-2011 at 03:22 PM.

In another version of the article that I read the deputy mayor is quoted as saying "All D.C. government employees have a responsibility to look out for residents."
I wonder what area he and the mayor will be patrolling?Nothing is as unimpressive as someone who is unwilling to learn.

"Looking out for residents" and going into a tough neighborhood as a uniformed, unarmed snitch are two different things.

Not putting firefighters at risk. I say BS !! Some of this gutter trash has no problem shooting at the cops. A fire dept t-shirt or even turnout gear will not stop a bullet.
To connect with the community at 2-3-4am?? Who is this guy kidding? Any decent part of the community, unless you work a late shift, is with their family home sleeping.
Another thing I'm wondering...Are these companies still responding to fires, or they "off duty" while on patrol?
