I like the E-Ones. If the doors open, the jacks can go down.

Same goes for the Raptor aka Metz BUT you can also short jack and operate over the short jacked side.

What do you mean "almost"? When this next test gets hired, we will have more than one front line piece older than the crews manning them...

EOne has never had a aerial fall over. (Or a boom collapse).

We have a 105' Heavy Duty Smeal being built, delivery sometime this November.
    Low Bid Truck
Not very many Smeal apparatus in our area.
We run E-One, Pierce and Sutphen units, which have all held up very well. I hope the Smeal can keep up.

Who do you think Pierce had building their aerials before they built their own?

Funny thing is Smeal is still building aerials for Pierce. Some overseas contract that Pierce won calls for 125 footers (I believe that's what was said). When our guys were out inspecting our quint, they saw them being built...

I think you'll be pleased. There's not much I don't like about our Smeal we just bought as a demo, and I have yet to see anything that comes even close to a flaw in construction or poor workmanship. Most of my dislikes are just things we couldn't change since we didn't spec it. But given the circumstances of our grant, I can't imagine that we could have done better.

Personnally, based on my experience in other departments, Stuphen and Aerialscope.

And based on repuation in this area, though I have never worked with one, you can add Ferrera to the list.

My combo department does not operate a truck and has no experience with them as a department. My volunteer department will likely never operate a truck.

It's unlikely that my combo department willl purchase an aerial in the forseeable future, even though it wouldn't surprise me to see the rating folks require that we purchase one to get maximum apparatus points within the next 5 years. I do however see us not taking the recommendation and sacrifing the points as it would simply be almost impossible for us to justify it on an operational level.
