You can use creatine. You just need to disclose that your taking it when you get called for your medical. If you don't and they see increased levels, they'll have you redo a blood test with your primary physician.

Probys don't get to have opinions, and you're not EVEN a proby. So, do the math.....

I disclosed I took creatine monohydrate because I've been taking 5grams on gym days for the past 3 years and I continue to take it in preparation for this academy. Creatine is not bad and beneficial in building muscle if taken consistently IMO. Even red meat has creatine (in very low levels) but you should not abuse it or do those crazy creatine overload stages. Medical didn't give me any problems but keep in mind I am a very active person - I'm in the gym 5-6 days a week and eat a lot of calories especially since I've been doing a lot of cardio lately and don't want to lose muscle. Maybe I sweated the creatine out the day before the medical on one of my long runs lol but it didn't even show up in my blood work.

Creatine has messed up my bloods in the past but they aren't looking to see if you are taking creatine when they run that test. Usually Creatine is tested for kidney function if I remember correctly

I knew that email was coming today. I'm over that damn run already, and we haven't even run the qualifying one yet. I just want the friggin PT session. Don't care to get assessed anymore. It's not getting any significantly better...
Yeah I seen your post so I kept an eye out for that email so I won't get over excited thinking it was a run letter.

I've gotten better on push ups. I went from 33 push ups to 44 and now I just broke the 50 mark. I started doing 135lb barbell bench presses for sets of 12+ reps followed by 3 sets of 25 push ups done in cadence every 4 days on chest and Tricep day and it has helped improve my push up numbers.

You don't get it, you seem to have a lot to say about something that is a non issue to you. The guy is a squared away probie, they actually like him in the FH. I never met the guy, but he has a lot more credibility than you do on this job than you do. So even on this forum where they want to talk about how to get in, you continue to bring it up. If your house is on fire and he is dragging you out, are you gonna ask for another fireman to save you. NO! So shut up already.

They don't check for creatine in your blood. They check your creatinine. Creatinine is a basic kidney function along with your BUN. You'll see them together on a blood work sheet. Creatine, creatinine are 2 totally different things.

I'll be running on the 2nd regardless as even with the issue I've kept my 1.5 under 10:30. I am reaching out to anyone who might have a decent swim program I can use to maintain my cardio as I deal with the recovery.
I swam in college, PM me if you want i can email you some workouts, I coach at the high school level currently.

No reason to focus on the issue about gay's lesbians in the work place. Most people that make it their top priority of conversation have issues with insecurities. In 2014 your allowed to enjoy your life freely and openly. If you (specifically you Hotchi) want to come out of the closet before the you enter the FDNY I'm sure you'll be treated fairly. Im personally straight, but know of a few openly gay men on the fdny and they are respected for the work they do at work. They are not judged on there relationships out side of work. So, if you want to have a coming out party before the FD have a blast, other then that it should be a non-issue.

Does anybody know where the important E-Mails come from? When I started the process I was using an email that I no longer have access to. I used to get like the candidate newsletters and stuff. I went to take the Police test this summer and had DCAS change my email, but I don't get any emails, and I want to know how to check that everyone who's going to send me the good stuff, has the right email...

All this talk about being gay and what the gentleman did before he got OTJ ( which he did disclose ) its all moot.

ridicule of sexual preference is a thing of the past ... especially here in NYC. Think about this, how many guys OTJ do you think there are who are married, have kids, the whole family man deal ... yet they sleep with other men on the low ? Its fairly common ... it happens.

I'm a straight dude, yet the agency I work for currently has a fairly large amount of gay / Bi Men and women. Have zero issues with it. As i've moved from dept to dept and promotions ... some of my bosses have been gay.

This is the world we live in. What others shhh dont make you eat ... so why let it phase you ?

I'm just curious, if there's a foot of snow on the ground will the DI's still make you run outside or is there a track indoors?

7XX. I was a defer for military reasons. I know that doesn't help you guys with estimation of where the numbers will fall, but I just wanted to let everyone know that they're going out today, so start looking.
