Well not to create any false hope, but I do think there's a chance the list will go a bit higher.

If you remember, last January, the run letters for the 9th were sent out in waves. In other words, people got letters for the run on the 9th over a span of several days. Perhaps for this class, they will send out some more for the 19th over the next couple of days.

They went like an additional 150-200 list numbers from the first wave of run letters on the 9th to the last, however they only had 3 scheduled dates as opposed to the 4 we have now.

Obviously this is just speculation, they are possibly done with run letters for this class(or close to it) - just some food for thought.

Also remember they only sent out letter for the the first 3 dates, they still have to send out letters for the the 25th.

No, not worried about time at all at this point. I just figured it would be good to get a feel for the trail you run on and maybe see where any inclines are. I didn't know it is just a big circle. Just figured I'd throw it out there in case anyone was interested, but if it's a circle then I guess it doesn't matter much to do it beforehand on second thought.

Yea I if I lived close I'd show you but it's really just a circle you're running in. Treat it like any other run. The pace is crazy slow. Like where guys will be walking at certain points.

Yea I know but that last date is just to fill out the class. I highly doubt there's gonna be a hundred candidates there. It is what it is at this point.

I dont think we can predict what class we may get into based on the historic 1:3 ratio. The lawsuit changed the process a lot. Candidates have so many resources to help them pass every single step of the processes including but not limited to mentors, informational orientations, online videos/manuals and social media that was never there for candidates seeking info in the past. All these resources motivate candidates to pursue this great career. We have a court monitor that makes sure everyone gets a fair shot. Once you get your packet in the mail you have several months to train for the CPAT and medical, And about a year to train for the 1.5 mile before you are looking to get into a class. Why would 2/3 candidates miss out on the opportunity to get into the best job in the world? And don't forget the way our economy is right now it's hard to get a good job as this one. None of the last 3 classes including this 4th class going in has shown a 1:3 ratio. The historic 3 ratio is no more my friends. It's looking more like a 1:2 ratio IMO.

FYI, for those that are looking into doing PRK, just make sure you do your research and i recommend not just seeing one specialist, make sure they do all the test to make sure you are a candidate. its a little bit of a process from once the procedure is done as well. i did it to get on, and i was nervous as ****. the results are amazing considering i was told that i was pretty much legally blind. I had really horrible vision. the procedure wasn't cheap but I'm sure you can find a good deal. i only regret not doing it sooner, because to have to do the drops in the academy wasn't easy let alone you are suppose to wear those huge old people sunglasses.

Some guys walk during the 1.5 mile run? Wow

I agree w Danny. I think they are extra cautious and are trying not to look over or DQ candidates like they used to in the past. That's fine, they'll take care of that in the academy.

I still think a lot more letters are going to go out for the run on June 25th. By then they should know how many guys are deferring and more run letters will go out. And hasn't it been said before for each run date they only run 100 guys per date, that still leaves 20 open spots. More letters will go out.

I hope your right, more letters going out would explain the low ratio. I know the 1:3 ratio is gone but 1:1.27 seems a little crazy. I thought it would be at least near 1:2

How do we know the ratio is that low?? We need to know how many PH, EMS, recycles are still left.. Plus, seems that a bunch of candidates >750 missed the last class for deferment. I think the ratio will hold at 1:3 or even higher as future classes come in. Everyone is already getting discouraged. Be patient, stay out of trouble. There are still plenty of classes left off this list, and if they do go to 3 classes a year, I think the list will go pretty far! Have faith

My advice is be as patient as possible. I've waited a LONG time for a chance and I'm still waiting on a packet. In 2002 I was only 17 and not the required 17 1/2 to take the test with my buddies who have been on since that exam. I took it in 07 and we know the result of that. Now 7 years since taking 6019 I'm still waiting.

The Vulcan Society prep course if you can find a way to get in but that's only given towards the start of the next exam. All you need is basic reading and listening skills. You listen and watch a video and answer questions. You need basic math. And lastly it won't hurt to take psychological exams to see how you do.

I'm talking about the run letters for the July class, I was also taking into consideration the 80 or so deferred and ems guys accepting it now. My ratios were only for the run letters that have come out so far for July. FYI the budget for 2014 does have 3 classes per year in it. However that's just the monetary breakdown, they can choose to use the money for other purposes and keep it at 2 classes.
