Medical or background? There was a guy on here a while back mentioned something about background appeal. Not sure if it worked out for him. Anyone?

mine is medical. rather not get into full details. That how the city is, if they DQ u, thats the end of it. No matter how much medical data, and favorable test results u have, they dont seem to care. NOT giving up though. I got a list number in the 700s and not going to let it go to waste.

Any one with a past broken bone have any advice about the medical? I don't have any metal in my body but I did break one in the past. And probably can't hide the scar

Just get all the paperwork from the doctor and if you had surgery get that. If you have no physical limitations then I don't see why they would disqualify you. I heard there was a probie who graduated and was missing a finger.

They averaging a 5-10% pass rate on the first attempt. Still, more shocking, is only a 60% pass rate on the second attempt.

You have to cleared by your own personal doctor, or a specialist?

Im in EMS waiting for the promo, but have a hard time with the PFT for my annual medical every year. No asthma or smoking history. Im in good shape as well. Anybody else have to go to a doctor yet for this - or have this DQ them?

I believe this is what this whole article was about that was discussed a few pages back. http://nypost.com/2015/03/14/aspirin...ath-test-exam/

To everyone just starting CPAT training:
    My best advice...
Be humble every time you enter The Rock... and remember be humble unto others, the world is a small place. Respect everyone!
    Change your life now!
Eat right and Train, run outdoors.
When your body wants to quit your mind has to be strong enough to keep pushing you forward.
    Nothing is impossible !

Also talk to the firefighters and officers there. Ask them real questions. They'll give you real answers. Everyone was really kind and generous - and has continued to be thought this process - with info about the job and what life is like once you get on. Yes and no sir/ma'am. And speak loud and clear.

Try looking into some of the breathing exercises from the Postural Restoration Institute. Most of us breathe inefficiently and only use a portion of our entire lung field. Optimizing diaphragm function, breathing mechanics and ribcage/pelvic positioning can drastically effect your lung capacity. I'm a strength and conditioning coach and have had amazing results with this. A lot of my athletes have increased their endurance and recovery ability, just by breathing more efficiently. It's powerful stuff. Good Luck
