GF is right in his assesment.....In all fairness he is speaking the truth that if Judge G remains on board that exam 2000 will be a ****show. With exam 2000 only showing a 1% increase in Blacks the Judge and the vulcans allready look like idiots....And when the scores come back in...if they are not doctored somehow...then the results will be typically the same.....the cream will rise to the top yet again but sadly he will not get the majority of the black candidates to the top of the list.....Which means he will have spent the last 5 years on a social experiment that didnt work only to now use quotas or band hiring as that will be his only option left.
So everyone should hope that the judge gets axed....that his rulings get lifted....and that dept starts to hire again in rank order from 6019 until the new list is established with passed psychs, cpat and medicals....
For if he remains on the case....then in fact the dept will forever be tarnished with his hand and that no rank order hiring will occur again.
I admit that GF was a bit harsh in his statements before...but that he is 100% correct in the assesment.

My list number on 6019 was in the 300's - I was called for the first class and had to defer (thinking there was a future) because I was obligated out of the country. So I DO have a dog in this fight. And I'm more than willing to admit that 6019 is over, done with, kaput, finished. DEAD. We all have to get over with it and move on, take advantage of the opportunity offered us by 2000. I sincerely hope, for the sake of fairness, that I am wrong. But let's be honest here, it aint happening. The judge, the city, the Vulcans, EVERYBODY except for a few dozen politically powerless citizens have any interest in resuscitating that NOW-EXPIRED list.
If you all disagree with that? Then please go to the forum thread dedicated to 6019 and vent your hopes / grievances / thoughts / etc.

The best thing we got going for us is a pompous, arrogant mayor who whenever asked about the case on his radio show always says, "there was nothing wrong with the test we gave in 2007." What better way to stick it to Garaufis if the case is overturned by using HIS (bloomberg's) exam? While you keep defending Exam 2000 remember that Exam 2000 is the Vulcan's and Garaufis' exam.

GF please reread what I said earlier. I never told you to give up and I wrote 2 paragraphs on how this whole process is bogus thanks to the politicians (and yes, a judge is a politician - he's appointed so he paid someone off to get there) so of course I don't think this is good for the department or the city, but one man apparently thinks it is. Please don't make this a "me vs. them" battle as most of us on this board really do support the 6019 guys. We can disagree on the outlook of the old list vs. the new but that's no reason to not stick together on here.

I shouldn't bite....but I'm gonna! You don't know me, you don't know when I was hired (not at the end of the list, FYI) and don't you ever talk about 9/11 like it benefited anybody. Further more, I DO have a dog in this fight. I care about the job and who is getting on. I care about the job my son might want to push for some day. I go to every Merrit matters meeting and sit and take interst in everything thats said, i also give the candidates all the respect they deserve when they speak. I'm glad to see them there.
To the folks who took 6019, don't let this jerkoff misconstrue my message. I think you guys got hosed, without a doubt. However, my advice is to not put your efforts into a cause that doesn't look like its going to have a positive outcome. If that turns out not to be the case, great! In the mean times, a new processes has begun and there is a lot still at play. Hopefully everyone prepared for the recent exam and now is ready to put their efforts into insuring that scoring is fair and hiring is racially blind. That is a fight that we can all have some impact on. Again, I hate to have seen you all take such a hit on 6019, I can imagine the frustration. However, the FDNY does not have the legal authority to extend a list. That is all in the hands of DCAS and the City Council and after spending millions on a new test and well publicized recruitment, they're not going to be inclined to go backwards. Neither should you. Look forward, stay ready and keep pushing for all things to be fair in the upcoming hiring process.
Good luck to all of you who took the recent exam. I'm more than glad to answer in questions and I'm sure plenty of other guys on the job feel the same way. Most people who come here to read about what's going on care enough to be the kind of people I hope to work with. Gimmeefire, or whatever your stupid name is.....with your attitude, this could be a long career.....if you ever make it through the door.

Was helping teach a CPR class in Rockaway, Queens today saw ladder 126 on the Van Wyck I believe and engine 328 go on 2 calls past the building I was in. Real motivation to see those guys at work. I'm still too afraid to walk into a FH, I'm not worthy to speak to anyone yet.

I think one of the most frustrating things of this thread isn't the fact that people are attacking one another, they are attacking one another based on their differences which is something that has been used as fuel for the lawsuits currently at the department's doorstep.
GIMMEFIRE and DC, I understand how upset you both must be in your pursuit of the greatest career on Earth. Being so close only to have the bar pulled away from you, and for you to fall. While I will never say that has happened to me in the civil service world, I will say that it has occured to me in the world of business and it is not only frustrating, but both disheartening and depressing.
However, you are always welcome to our Exam2000 meetings and more importantly to share our goals and views on the current exam. Even more so we have a game plan set in place and with the release of more information we will slowly inact what we are trying to accomplish. What's more frustating is that we only know you from the online world and we cannot and should not reflect this as who you are in real life, but I do believe that the internet's ability to allow anonymity does put you both in a easier position to criticize without a constructiveness. If we were to meet in real life I'm sure most of the tension would be released and next meeting I would personally love meeting both of you.
Plus GIMMEFIRE from earlier posts, you had a perfect score so I think saying you should be good to go is an understatement. Best of luck to both of you, and do hope to see you at a meeting soon!
