So the city might go ahead and start going by list number order on the open competitive list? This would be amazing news, but didn't judge Garaufis threaten "sanctions" if the city didn't start with the 293 priority jerks?
I would've thought the second circuit court would have to rule before they could start processing past the EMS promos one way or another? Maybe they are allowed to hire how they want while the appeal is still pending?List # 12XX

Yeap I believe they are allowed to go ahead with the OC class until they figure out what the ruling on the priority hiring is. Also I spoke to an OTJ liutenant and he told me the priority hires are not going in altogether in one academy. They will be spinkled in here and there. Dont know whats the validity to any of this info tho.

The judge specified a quota system to slowly bring in the 293. Something like 1-2 out of every 5 or something like that.
I've heard different rumor mill stuff saying that the january class is pretty much all wrapped up, or that they may be publishing a list who's going in as soon as the next 1-2 weeks. Exciting ****.01-13 "First in Five"

I wouldn't exactly say they're "jerks." This whole thing isn't their fault, it's some crazy judge. I'm sure most of them wanted to get on as bad as you do. It's like the really ugly dude with the hot girlfriend. Sure people are going to talk ***** behind his back, but at the end of the day he's still with the girl, he's happy, and apparently she's happy.

I agree. I think it's fair to criticize the judge, or the vulcans, but the specific candidates in question are probably just guys trying to get on as well. I'm sure some will be better than others, but I don't believe it's our place to judge. The academy will hopefully take care of any problems.
What part? Do they have access to your medical records? I know you sign statements swearing that you have been honest and disclosed anything. Somewhere in that legalese you probably give them the right to contact your doctors, but they don't make you bring in all of your medical records right off the bat.
I'm in the same boat. If I do it right, get the time off that I'm putting in for, and the city stays on target with 1/14 then I have 11 tours of EMS left. It's indescribable. Not that I've ever gone skydiving, but I imagine it to be kind of like standing at the doorway just kinda waiting to jump.Last edited by Manhattan Medic; 12-05-2012 at 07:29 PM.

yeah can they access medical records?
i played many sports growing up and threw college. ive hurt my ankle, i strained my ACL(knee) and ive hurt my back from a fall. All of which have 100% resolved. I have seen a doctor for all 3 and went to PT for the knee and back.

Congrats to Manhattan Medic, BklynBoy, and everyone else who has been doing good things at EMS and is getting ready for the January class. Hoping that all the bs and delays are behind you and all that lays ahead is 20 tough weeks at the Rock and a wonderfully crappy year as a proby. And thanks to you both and everyone else on list 2500 who has continued to give us good information. Fingers crossed and looking forward to getting my package soon and hearing your stories from the Rock in january!
