Could someone do a bit of clarifying for me? The 3 out of 5 rule is only in effect until the magic number of 293 is reached, correct? After that, I assume that hiring will be done strictly through rank order?

I say assume under the thinly veiled context in that it is synonymous with "potential to be $crewed."

Obviously there is this Jan class of 2500 going through now. The next batch of 2500/2000 will go through in Summer 2013.

So you can plan on an all 2000 list class going through January 2014.

You can get a better idea of how this is going down if you do the math.

Another thing he said was that they are in a promotional hold in the department so if you are a captain trying to be chief or a FF trying to become a LT. they aren't putting you through. This is because they are so depleted that they can't afford to lose any more firemen to promotion. There is no one to take their spot.

Ya better work on that source. They've been promoting, in fact they just promoted last week. They plan on making many more promotions throughout the year. As for the 2500 list, they'll be promoting from that list until its exhausted. Given that some don't have the 2 years in EMS they need, there is no telling how long they'll be using that list.

Honestly, it's best that we don't speculate anymore. Like the Asian guy said on a previous post, it's Best to forget we took the test and go on with life. If they call us then they call us. For all anyone know the first 2400 can all go through the process and not go beyond that number. Not that I believe this but this is going to be an unpredictable process and non of us or even people at HQ know how everything is gonna go down exactly. But let's us watch where this chit shows goes.

Is the FDNY giving a free 3 month membership to candidates going through the process once their list # is reached? Thats how it was done for the previous exam 6019

I spoke to an EMT promo Tuesday night and he told me that he's in the very low 71X's (dont want to give away his #/name) and he is deffered to the July class.

so that leaves 160 names on the promo list. So what's a good guess at how many promo's will make up the June class? 50-60? 2:1 ratio knocks 160 down to 80, then how many don't have two years. You're looking at about 270ish spots open to either OC guys or the 293 from the courts list.

From January to June only 1 EMT class from 2 years ago will make the 2 year mark. So figure maybe 40 guys from that plus *********s like me with 5 years but just scored lower on the test so maybe like 100 EMS guys in June. I don't know after this whole ordeal I went through the past couple weeks I don't listen to anyone anymore. As of a month ago everyone though EMS guys were faling like crazy and "they were gonna run through the entire list" so there I was waiting for an email watching my c0ck get smaller refreshing my email every 2 mins......it was a mess I didnt sleep.....lets move on. Psyched for you OC guys to get packets and get this thing moving!

Except there's guys in 1-710 who didn't have 2 years on, so you can't assume that they've actually gone through 710 candidates. That's why trying to gauge things based on the promo list is somewhat useless.

O no I'm in the open competitive list not the promo I was just wondering so I can get a jump start on everything. I'm guessing I have about a year and a half till I get called so I was just hoping I can do some light reading of the material till then.
