Did any one notice that those in the video seem like they are being coached to give the answers they did? the answers weren't clear, but I still think either the reporter or a vulcan was there to give them a hint.

On a side note. I recently retook my fire guard test as a requirement for a job, It was much harder than the exam 2000. People fail that test several times and no one cares. They just have to keep taking it.

The 318 is now down to 315 as of today but anyway....All guys who were hired prior to July/2009 will be grandfathered in to Tier 2 which is what FFers currently have and all their EMS time will count up front. Anyone after the July/2009 will fall into modified Tier 3 with EMS time on the back. There is no Tier 6 for FFer. OC guys will fall under the modified Tier 3. I was personally very pleased when I heard this because at CPAT training instructors were saying that they don't believe our EMS time counts up front which is the opposite of what I thought the past 5 years. In the back of my mind I had a feeling he didn't really know what he was talking about.

Hey jerk I don't know if you allowed to talk about it but out of curiosity, do you know the reason for these drops?

If you want a job where all you need to do is pass to get called, take the PD exam. (no knock on cops, but kind of still haha.)
    My feelings exactly.

I just looked at the list again out of curiosity. It kind of sucks seeing that I'm one of the last 101's haha. A few of my friends got the same score and are nearly 1000 spots higher. Damned SS #s.

Yeah, it sucks. You would think they would use something more relevant to break ties.

Yeah all you have to do is score decent to get called for PD, but very large amounts of people get disqualified. I doubt those people claiming discrimination would pass the investigation or even have the credits to begin with, since words, the alphabet and paragraphs discriminated against them.
PD has plenty of minorities, so that discrimination nonsense doesn't work if you are not qualified.
They also don't have to lower their standards and seem to be able to disqualify who ever they want.

And what would happen if they weren't able to get 293 from that pool? Would they be forcefully passed and mainstreamed as would a child with a developmental disability in the PS system?

This is what I got off the Facebook Merit Matters page: "I've heard there are appx 400 people on a list of "discriminated candidates" from which a maximum of 293 candidates (it COULD be 293, it could be 50 after they go through Exam 2000, the physical, the medical, psychological and background checks) would be put onto a list and merged into other incoming classes."

I'm glad you mentioned this. If you're a candidate, I'm sure you'd be welcome. Please attend and hear the latest news and show support for merit.

St. Luke's Church (Basement) at 7pm on Feb 5th.
    E. 138th St., in The Bronx.
    Across the street from E. 83 & L. 29

**If you're in the current academy class, 7pm is getting a little close to bedtime, you should stay home. Seriously, Merit Matters will be here for you after graduation.
