Hey guys a little insight to me so you can take what i say with slightly more credibility then usual on these forums.
I am a active FF and product of the only 6019 Class
I have friends in the current proby class
I have friends that are both DI's and instructors for the current class
I have friends & family who are still waiting to be called from both #2000 & #2500
Cpat training-
If you've never done it, DO IT!! Technique is a major component to this test and being familiar with the events is a huge asset. Also of the 8 guys in my group for cpat training, 6 made it to proby school with me. It's nice to have a few friends going into it because the first couple weeks are intimidating as hell. After that it's just a total grind.
Residency Credits-
Yes there will be more then usual who fail to prove residency. Unfortunately many who took 6019 assumed this test was the same in that you had to prove residency 12 months Prior to your investigation. As most of you have seen the residency window started BEFORE you even took the written test.
For those of you who are getting packets now, get your **** together. The city tells you nothing until just days before your due somewhere. You'll get a notice to report for a medical 3 days before the date or report for your run at the rock in 2 days.
You guys can bull**** with each other all you want. I'll just try to throw you some facts every now and then.

Good luck to all you guys getting packets lets get this thing started.
IIRC don't the priority hires have the option of taking the job, or taking a lump sum for backpayment?
You gotta think the majority are gonna just take the money and run. Just my .02.Exam: 2000

Everyone (except maybe Jukez) should consider going to the CPAT training. Beyond just running through the course you'll get extra work that will help you prepare for what PT/FST will be like in the academy. Also the training is run by the Health & Fitness staff (the guys who do PT/FST). They're very knowledgeable and helpful. I wish I had gone to more, but I had some mitigating circumstances that made it difficult to get there.
Also with a grand total of 3 weeks under my belt all I can say is that I'm quite sure the department has no plans to make the academy easier for the priority hires, and that it will eat many of them alive.
