I know. Sucks to get to learn something the hard way.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next promotion exam is in 2 years.

I looked them up and all 3 of those kids got below a 97. I would have joined EMS too if I were in their situation.

If the promotional exam is in the next 2 years then how would that play out in the hiring process? Would the OC have to wait again in 2 years for the promotional list to be exhausted?

The department has given no indication in recent history that they plan on having promotional exams more often. I would worry about how that might affect the OC list when it actually happens (because I don't think it's going to happen).

Rock solid proof right there that it does not matter who you know or are related to.....if you don't score high enough, you most likely will not get the call.

With everything that's going on, anything out the ordinary could be a possibility. I do hope it doesn't happen though, let him pay his dues with 4+ years in EMS (which he obviously loves) before he can get the dream job.

There is no way they are going to give a promotional exam out before another OC test. It wouldn't make sense finically.

Did they tell you at your investigation about your medical? Or did they mail you?

    Thanks!

Now I remember why I stopped using Facebook. Although I would never post anything idiotic like this, looking at someone else's kills as many brain cells.

I have sympathy for his feelings, but certainly not for his lack of digression. It's hard to understand, but it can be frustrating when someone is indeed yapping away on an iPhone5 right as they hand you an EBT card when you ask for I.D. However, there are two important things to remember......first off, we help a lot more people who really need it than we spend time helping scammers. Second, we're professionals and we are paid to do a job and leave our personal agenda at the door.

It's hard to be the son of the commish, but he's making life a lot harder by spouting his stupid mouth off in public on something as stupid as Twitter. Tweeting anything makes you an *********, tweeting like he did might very well get him fired. Being in the limelight like this means they're going to have to make an example out of him and being fired might really be the result. I'm sure that can happen under oath of office and what not...

is anybody really surprised by these comments? spiderneck chim in. But my last name will not be hiding the fact that I fit into one of the groups the "son of FDNY commish" slurred about. I suspect and expect to get some mouth for it at some point.

I thnk what is shocking is he was stupid enough to say in publicly, but I'm not surprised by his "thoughts and feelings"

Wouldn't they make him resigned just so he can atleast take the next OC exam?
I believe firing him and taking his chance away is too extreme no?

I'm on most forms of social media. And I do make my thoughts known. But not all of them. You have to have some filter in your brain before you speak out.
I can't crucify the kid. He's done it to himself already.

It's certainly not helping yours and the department's standpoint.

There is still no official policy that I'm aware of about the use of social media. But with this, I'm sure we'll be getting one.

Extreme? Nope. He's an adult and given the circumstances and media attention, I think termination might be appropriate. Among other things, he compared his hate for Jews to Hitler.
