Luckily, I didn't do anything stupid and I smoked that test, barely worked up a sweat and wasn't out of breath at all. My work leading up to this did me well. To train I used my school's 50lb vest and would put in 20 minutes on the step mill. While I was there a couple guys dropped out of the step mill because they couldn't hack it. My recommendation for those of you that still have to do the step mill for the medical is just put all your effort into staying on that machine, if you are having a hard time and feel like you can't go any further, just keep pushing. It is literally 8 min of your life and you don't want something as simple as walking on a glorified escalator to stop you from getting on the best job in the world.

Bro.. Don't sweat it.. I have a stutter too.. Same as you. I actually have a job working in a call center lol. It's sort of like my happy place in my cube. The more at ease you get the easier it will be..

Hey guys, new to posting on this forum, been following it for quite a while tho. Best of luck to everybody going through the process. Just wanted to give all you guys a heads up; I recieved a call from my investigator today saying he had to cancel my follow up with him for missing paperwork. He left a voicemail and when I called him back ten minutes later he said I should call him back late June because he highly doubts my list number will be called for this July class. My list number is low 300's and scored a 104. I've taken the psych , and have my physcical scheduled for next week.

I'm a little down right now with all the talk of low 300's not making it in July. Still doing my 1.5 mile under 12 minutes though. I hate running but I'm doing 25-30 miles a week. Sucking it up. My best 1.5 mile was 11:36. Not setting any records or anything but it's good for me.

Trust me man, as someone who's been on this roller coaster for about 7 years you can't let every post swing you one way or the other. You'll drive yourself crazy about a rumor or estimation that probably isn't even true. And don't pay attention to the investigators estimates they don't know anymore about what list number will be reached than we do, they are just there to investigate your history not speculate.

Ok so I kind of screwed up. My list # is 36## I'm not a resident so didn't get any points there but I am Medically retired from the Army. I had a few issues when I got home from the war but that's beside the point. I didn't claim disabled in fears that it would hurt my interview and background. So I got the 5 points for being a vet but I just found out its illegal for them to not hire on the fact I'm considered disabled by the Army as long as I pass everything else. So here's my ? is it to late to call or write and have them add the 5 extra points because that would push my score up to a 104 or am I SOL? Thanks in advance I appreciate the help.

I have a quick question for the guys who received the letter and medical disclosure for the cpat course given by DCAS. On the medical disclosure form on the first line in the bottom it states " To be signed by a physician if you have any of the conditions listed on the reverse side or if you believe you may not be physically or medically fit to take the test." I took that as if I do not have any of these conditions then I do not need to get it signed by a doctor. Am I right? I don't want to show up to find out that I needed to get this signed even though the statement doesn't indicate that. What do you guys think?

That form is confusing. It states that, but it also states that it has to be signed by your primary doctor to actually take the CPAT. My doctor signed mine, but I also informed her to write up a letter stating that I am physically fit to take the CPAT, just in case.

Thanks for the replies guys. That form isn't clearly written. For now I won't get it signed and see what happens on Tuesday. If there is any issues I'll make sure to update people on the forum. Good luck everyone

You're good man. Just write them a letter stating you are requesting the 5 extra points be added to your score. I just did it about 2 weeks ago and I moved up in the 104 range. Im not medically retired tho. Just have the 10% disability. My number got moved up and the very next week I was being called for interview. But I'm stuck in Afghanistan so I had to defer my appointments until I get back. I wasn't expecting it to work that quick. But you need to get on it soon, they're about to "establish" the list and after they do that, they won't change anymore scores, then you will be SOL.

Can somebody explain the actual hiring. After all appointments are made and passed you wait to be offered a spot in a class or how does that work? And if that's the case, how long is it from the time they notify you of wanting to hire you until the first day of class?

Only get it signed if you have a medical condition that is on the front of the notice, if not, just bring it with you. Sign both notices, when you get there, and don't forget the money order $25 (fill everything out when you get there).

I'm in the same boat as you. I've done my investigation and I've just recently received my CPAT dates in the mail with a list number in the low 400's.

I would think that they would want us to take our medicals and psych tests as close to our hiring as possible just so they have an up to date and accurate reading. Which also kinda doesn't make sense considering we got our CPAT dates. I believe since the CPAT testing is run by DCAS, and not directly through the FDNY, they may handle things differently. What I don't get is, what If i take my physical in May and by the time January rolls around I'm fat and out of shape. (will NOT happen, just saying). I don't have an answer to your question because I was wondering the same thing but I would suspect that they want the testing done close to when we are hired.

Anyone part of 6019 run into this awkward stage in the hiring process?

All parts of the hiring process are good for the life of the list except for the medical which expires after a yr. When we were processing for 6019 most people did 2 medicals while a few did 3. I could see them giving people medicals for the Jan class prob beg end may/june I would think.

from what I've seen they're only now up to around OC list #150 for the medicals. Low 700s prob means you have a few months before they get to you. I was hoping to have mine sometime in the last two weeks of May but if I'm not making the July class then that most likely won't happen.

I think that's why the 1.5M run days before you swear in was instituted. If for what ever reason you end up taking your medical several months before your class, that run is their last test before they let you in.

That really sucked. The feeling of passing each of those medicals, the run, and then not getting on is easily the most disappointing feeling of my life

That form is definitely written poorly because it says to have it signed if there are any conditions, and then it says that it is to be signed by the doctor giving the ok to do the test. It's almost like they forgot to put a section in there. Also it says that the conditions are listed on the reverse side but they are actually on the same side. I brought it to my doctor to have it signed regardless because I'd rather not show up to the test and then not be able to take it due to no doctor signature.
