    1) call as in hired no. Call as in cpat, medical etc yed. 2) if you have/had asthma you'll have to get something from your doctor. A guy at my cpat had asthma when he was younger and he passed the stairs for his medical but had to come back later to bring a form or something from his doctor.

Took my cpat today around 3pm, passed it. I spoke with someone who is very close to my number and he hadn't recieved a medical letter yet. I'm between 160 and 185. The guy I spoke to was less than 5 spaces lower than me
    On the list.

If you currently have asthma the odds are stacked against you. Best case scenario they will tell you that you have to have a methacholine test done and your being qualified/disqualified will depend on the results.

For anyone that did the medical already, about how long is the process? Is it 2 or 3 hours? Longer?

If your asthma is really under control and you don't think it will ever flare up on you while performing FF duties then I wouldn't even mention the asthma just blow hard and fast on your medical and you should be fine, but if they send you for a methocoline test then you might have an issue not too many guys were cleared after the methocoline. I only met 1 other guy besides myself who got cleared at the rock. Good Luck hope it all works out for you

Does someone on the job or in the know have any insight into whether they allow you on the job if you have controlled high blood pressure with meds?

Getting the methocholine done next week. All I put down was seasonal allergies on that initial survey and they are making me take this test. I don't have asthma or any history of asthmatic symptoms. Any insight on what to expect?

If its just seasonal then I wouldn't. I honestly never had problems with breathing from them , just runny nose and itchy eyes.

Does anyone have a prospective idea of what numbers will be called for processing once this class goes in? Like will they get to 1400ish or barely break 1000?

They'll probably call about 1400 and make it through about 1200. So wherever they leave off on the OC list just tack 1400 on for processing and probably 1200 for what number will actually see the academy and you'll have some idea. But obviously there's no way to know this till July when we see what OC# they stop at.

Yea that's what I was thinking. Just curious since I decided I'm gonna finish grad school within the next year. If all goes swimmingly I could being getting processed right around graduation next May.

congrats to everybody who passed their CPAT this week.

I just passed it and boy does it feel nice.

So is it still worth it to go to the rock for the next 2 weeks of CPAT training?

I'm gonna concentrate more on my running and cardio now, if i can make it, I will. But I'm not gonna take off work to go like I have been doing.

Just passed my CPAT. Psych in two weeks and no word on the medical yet. Prob won't be in the July class but gonna train as if I can be called anytime because I want the Academy to be as smooth as possible. Looking forward to potentially going through hell with some of you.
