It's not the score, it's the list number. Because they had to squeeze these guys in there couldn't be multiple list numbers of 125.5 for example, so they gave them different number designations.

went to the mentor meeting today:

The run will be july 9,10,15...letters are going out this week.

On that day you need to be under 13 minutes. When they give the baseline fitness test you need to be under 12 to stay out of remedial.

Looking at the .5's, lots of them requested residency. I feel if you didn't apply right away or after you took the test, you prob don't have the documents to back it up. I think a lot of these guys saw their list numbers, realized they didn't have a chance of being called and said screw it, apply for the points. What's the worst that could happen, go back to their original list number. Speculation, but there is a chance a lot of these guys who shot up the list won't remain there.

I was there also hopeful lol. Front row, first seat left side. Interesting thing this July you don't get a letter right after finishing the run, they have to see how many Ph and EMS pass it also so its possible you finish the run then get no letter and have to run again in Jan lol

Letter is a invite for the run, it doesn't come after. I actually thought the run was scheduled for the 2nd and 9th? They must've pushed it back.....

No i mean after completing the run. In the past it was a sure thing for the academy i believe after completing it. Now they have you run, make a list, then invite in order the ppl that finish it. At least that's what the guy Shane said when asked. So you can Finnish in under 13, & have to wait until Jan

Damn! Too bad I didn't know you were going we could have met up...I was in the first 5 or so rows on the ride side though.

I believe he's referring to how they did it in the past where you pass the run and get a conditional offer for employment on the spot. Sounds like this time around theyre calling more than usual for the run in case people fail.

Yes exactly what I'm talking about. The comments from the class that just graduated was great lol. Overall kinda like our position, imagine doing the run and then being told hey great come back in jan lol. At least our hopes aren't up, that would be brutal

Damn :'( I didn't realize the .2's. I spotted the .7's though. I'm assuming about 200 guys are ahead of me now.

I'm hoping some OC guys go into this class. It would boost my morale a little bit.

How are their more people? what about all these people who are supposed to have lied about their residency credit. Where are these extra people coming from.

Got it, thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression it was done the old way.

No, it would make more sense to just have a revised list with new list numbers, but instead they are squeezed in between the existing ones.

Almost 100 guys pushed ahead of me, although its possible that many of them were already in front of me even before the revision.

Remember these are only the people who are getting points after the fact - at this point they're only moving people up. Once things get really moving on the OC list and the investigations begin, we'll start seeing people drop if they fail to prove residency. How often they update the list to reflect these people who get bumped down, I don't know.

So once again bad news floats our way. Word from the graduating class and instructors as well as at metro tech is now stating that after the Jan '14 class, The Fire Dept will be initiating a hiring freeze for an undesignated amount of time. I wish it wasn't confirmed but unfortunately that is the case. And we wait again

Yeah even with 2 more classes it certainly wont kill the OT. A nice dent, but thats about it.

Everyone of my sources says this list will be exhausted to the max. They're already way short on guys as it is and from what I hear a lot of guys are going to retire who didn't plan to due to the fact that with all the over time their pensions will never be this high again. I find it hard to believe that they'll put forth a hiring freeze

LOL.....where did you hear this one, hahahaha....sorry. I just can't stop laughing....

By the way.....people from a recently graduated class are still figuring out how to wash dishes in the sink. Instructors at the Rock and Probys aren't any good for info. The job is still down over 600. Almost 500 will be promoted to LT. in the next 18 months and guys are retiring. No ones freezing any hiring.

That logic is actually false. The final average salary is based on the highest consecutive years of earnings, not the final years. They may take it as a reason to finally get out, but I don't believe it would affect their pension in any way.

MM is correct; for Tier 3 and 4 members, it is their three best consecutive years of service in terms of salary earned.
