Today couldn't be any better. I got the letter for the run at the same time I finished my associate's degree. I know it's an associates, but better than the G.E.D I had before.

Remember guys, face cleanly shaven, and if not a crew cut, short and neat. Don't forget your license, they give you 2 min. to get it, and it's very little time. Do not bring your cell phones!
    Good luck guys!!!

I feel like I am so close, but so far away. If dudes in the 50's are getting letters, that puts me about 100 people out based on the list with the new additions added in there. Who knows how many people on the OC list under 150 actually passed everything though. I'm literally right on the edge and will probably miss this class by 20-30 spots, which is about the amount of people who will drop out of the academy because they can't hack it.

Do we think this "New list" will have a huge effect on our original list numbers? I counted 50+ guys before me. Hopefully that still keeps me in January range.

The further down the list you are, the more people you will have added in front of you. Although my list number is still in the 130s, realistically, it is now in the 150s.

That's the way it goes man. I believe JerkAlert missed the last class by 1 spot. If nothing else it means you will 100% be in consideration for the class after this, so that at least gives you a clear goal.

Also for all you guys who've made it and are heading into the academy, remember these words of wisdom:

I agree, MM, when the academy begins, people will hear very little from me. I probably won't have time to post anyways, studying will be my sole focus.

Quick question. I forgot that I'm scheduled for jury duty on the 29th, which is the start date for the academy. What exactly do I do about that? Do I take the pre-employment letter that I receive after the run to the court and explain my situation?

This is from the NY website.....
Q ] Can jurors postpone jury service for a later date?
A ]You can postpone your service once by calling 800-449-2819 at least one week before your date of service. Have your juror index number (from your summons) with you when you call. Pick a date between 2 and 6 months from the date on your summons and you will be assigned the available date closest to your choice. Any future postponement request or request for excusal from jury service must be made by calling your local commissioner of jurors office.

If you cannot serve even if granted a postponement, you may contact your local commissioner of jurors office and ask to be excused from service. The commissioner may ask you to provide documentary proof of the reasons why you need to be excused.

The orientation day will be a week before the 29th. Bring the jury duty paperwork and at an appropriate time bring it up and ask for their guidance. Or if possible try and contact the jury duty system and postpone your service. You can postpone at least once with no questions asked.
