Best place to start. It's always better for a proby to be where water is. In the past, guys went to trucks out of proby school because there was room for them there. Now we're so under head count they can fill up the engines with probies. Truck work requires some experience because you wont have the hoseline right with you.

First day back on the track in a year; 2.5 miles in 20 minutes(8min mile) and I was hurting really bad with 3 laps left...
    Did 40 yards spirits after.
Gonna add in mid distance interval training in about a week and a half

Main goal minimum- 3 miles in 20 minutes(6:40 mile) and at end of cardio days with 75lbs 3 sets of 5minutes stairmill moving faster than pace set on CPAT (thats like level 7 right?)

Can anyone explain what the "decon training" is? Something to do with that last group starting 5 days later?

Makes sense. Do you work in an engine or a ladder company? If you've done both, which do you prefer? Also, do engine companies do more medical runs than ladder companies?

Trucks (Ladders) don't do medical runs at all, thank god. We make slightly less $. It works out to about 3k a year.

Who has time to find the list number of the last EMS that was reached by using this order and the FDNY EXAM List 2500 ( http://www.nyc.gov/html/fdny/pdf/job...00-d100512.pdf ) ? You can use Control and F to search a name on both lists. Therefore we can know approximately how much more EMS are left.

I believe decon training is for decon engines. There are a few in every borough. They stay extra to learn how to set up decon stations and wash down and what not. CPC Trucks get an extra 2 or 3 days of training and SOC support trucks get an extra 2 weeks of training, however nobody went to any trucks on this order. None get paid extra.

No, the decon engines are not Haz Tech engines and do not get the 12%.

something along these lines....I have a friend at around 2400 on OC, he took the EMS list and compared it to the top 2400 on OC and says there's about 200 EMS guys ahead of him on OC that'll be processed off the EMS list first.

As far as I know, they have not reached 185 or higher. I'm a little ahead of that number and I just passed my medical today.

Going through the EMS list, it looks like they got up to approximately 715. Remember, though, that this doesn't give an accurate assessment as far as how many remain on that list. Some of those on that list hadn't yet become eligible due to the time requirement.

I'll say this, if you can handle being an EMT and would take doing it seriously and well, that looks to be the way to go. I'm an EMT and I never pursed it due to my current employment, but it sure would have sped things up.

Congratulations to the graduates heading out to the field.
