Yeah, it would be sort of a pain... You would need to get rid of the numbers when you get into excel and just do a compare on names... I am going to mess around with the files since I really do not feel like doing "real" work, haha.

go to print the document, in the drop down menu where your printer's name is showing there should be a selection for "pdfcreator", if you select that, click "print", it should bring you another screen that allows you to edit the document and instead of printing the doc, it creates a new pdf version.

At least that's how it's set up on my work computer.

For those that were talking about books, check out 20,000 Alarms by Lt Richard Hamilton if you can find it.

    Others:
When the Bronx Burned (a novel) and The Usual - John Finucane

The Brave: A story of New York City's Firefighters - George Pickett

Fire Factory and Ghetto Firefighter - Harry J Ahern (both novels)

Laughter, Tears and muffled Drums and The last true hero - Retired Deputy Chief Phil Burns

Random Thoughts - A collection of firefighting articles from Fire Engineering by the great Tom Brennan.

Also Leo Stapleton, retired from the Boston Fire Department has written several books, both fiction and non-fiction.

You guys crack me up with this nonsense. Why wouldn't we be able to take 2000 as well? It's a separate exam, and one that I was also eligible for. All we did was file for both. The exam counted twice, and I filed for residency, which was correctly applied to just 2000.

Why did I file for both? I don't know. Why not?

Maybe those 900 spots will balance out with all the .5 guys who got residency and veteran points after the list was established, wishful thinking

I would expect all you guys to do that. If they hired like they did in the past then the 1st few classes wouldnt just be EMS so technically I guess you would have a chance to get hired off the OC list before you got hired off the promo list... and like you said, why not.

Yeah I didnt say it made me think he was a good commish or anything, but it was interesting to at least see what his mindset was when he made some controversial moves. He even acknowledged numerous times the heat he got from the guys on the job during his tenure, including being booed at a benefit concert shortly after 9/11.

He had great things to say about Ray Downey, which is what sparked me to get the book originally.

    Default Excited Prospect!

    Hi All,

Havent been following as closely as i probably should be at this point but i think im going to tune in more because it seems like things are speeding up. Two questions that I hoped this board can answer for me.

    1) Have they began picking off OC list yet and how far down the list do we anticipate FDNY to go? (I scored 99 and have a list# 4xxx).

    2) Is there a way for us to tell how far down the list they've gone? Like do they update this on the FDNY or DCAS website anywhere?

Thanks in advance! Good luck all.
