So, this next academy class will be comprised mostly of OC candidates?

Hey, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Quick question. When I was 13, in 2005, I was hit by a car. I was a pedestrian. The car was not going that fast because it was making a turn. I was struck in the back. Long story short, I had a few Herniated discs in my lower back. I had some lower back pain when the incident happened, for about maybe 6 months, but I went to physical therapy and a chiropractor for about 2-3 years, because my doctor wanted to insure that everything was okay. I havent been treated for pack pains, neither have I had them since then. Now, in regards to the Medical/ Physical evalutaions that are administered through the FDNY Hiring process, what should I do? Should I be worried? Im kind of confused on how I should handle this. Please if anyone could shed some light ad give me some info on this topic or advice, that would be phenomenal. Thanks again for your time guys.

Anyone speak to their investigator recently and went through processing (medical, physical ,psych , etc.) last Spring?

I called mine today and he had very little to say except that everything is still under review.

It's hard to get anything out of them let alone get in contact. I have sent a few emails lately and spoke once but I pretty much got the same answer as you. Wondering what's up with everything myself.

13 in 2005?! Damn I'm old! Honestly as long as you dont have any lingering issues they might just ask for a note from your doctor saying you'd be able to perform the duties. Generally the only people that have trouble are ones that have hardware. Good luck!

Yeah I figured getting in contact with my investigator would be as hard as always so I haven't given it a shot yet. I may send an email just to say I did but I don't really expect an answer. I hope that guy was right about run letters possibly getting sent out the week of Christmas. I'll probably wait until the last week of December to start calling my investigator like a maniac... Until then, keep training boys!

Ok good to hear that there are others in the same or similar boat. Been training and keeping eyes on the prize. Run letters during Christmas week would be the only gift I would want at this point.

Just received an email from my investigator asking to fill out an appendix M for my NJP. I filled it out "to the best of my knowledge" but now I'm wondering if this is a huge concern.

Edit: I turned it in in person because I was scared. My investigator looked over it, had a satisfied look on her face and said that they (I'm assuming some board) will look over it and make a decision prior to the beginning of the class. Basically, within a month. Now I'm getting really nervous; forget residency, I'm wondering if I might get DQed.

What are your investigators initials ? I'm a little over a 1100 so hopefully we have the same investigator and that means my references will receive their letters soon.

Three possible classes in 2014... looks like they might be getting up to 900 on this list for Jan. I think this list is about to start really flying.

How many candidates will get the call for the next round of packets? Any guesses... Im hoping for another 1200.

NJP is a military term, it's a non judicial punishment it's not a big deal but I guess they want him to write what happened and what he was charged with

As a prior enlisted Marine, I'm curious to know why you volunteered to disclose that you were NJP'd in the first place. Unless you committed an offense off-base for which you were charged under the UCMJ, civilian and civil service employers do not have access to punitive records that are not reported. NJP's are not reported as they, as the name suggests, non-juidicial.

I commend your honesty but I think you created more headaches for yourself than it's worth.

Dude, they said to write down everything on that form and if we didn't disclose it, we would be DQed. I talked to someone else who went through this and he said they don't really care so it was better to be safe than sorry. Its really frustrating when I not only agree but it is a fact that these things are what they are: non-judicial.
