I'm very low 300's, and I'm also anxiously watching the mailbox! However, it usually takes me an extra day to get any DCAS or FDNY correspondence since I live out east on the island.

I think they will definitely get passed 500 for January. The rumors (and I know there just rumors) say that at least 200 spots in the January class should be OC guys. If thats the case then even a 1:3 ratio gets to 600. I think it will be more of a 1:4 ratio, so thats up too 800. And dont forget they are already up to the low 100s for this july class. I know some of 100 OC guys are probably deployed and may be in the January class, but not all. Just my opinion though.

Yea I feel like those guys high up with military credits who are deployed wouldn't have a problem getting in fitness wise at all. Almost as if they're a sure thing. But then again nothing is. I'm hoping for next July since a lot of EMS folk took both and there will still be some guys deployed.

Remember that they send the packets out in 'groups.' If you haven't received on yet and you're close, you may get one in the near future.

If anything is for certain in regards to this process, we'll all be in the dark, for the most part, until something comes in the mail or you have an investigator and they call you.

It has always been somewhat of a slow process to get this job and recently, it has been even slower. Unfortunately, that's the nature this pursuit.

Jukez our EMS time doesn't really count for anything. You are starting over as far as fire is concerned. Someone who is converting to tier 2 gets their pensionable time counted up front, but that means nothing for seniority/time on the job.
I meant towards the promotion. Is it 2 years from when you are sworn in or 2 years from being out in the field?? And also someone was telling me about civil service status and some people being held back because they didn't have civil service even though they were EMS??? That confused the crap out me lol

Got medical notice via snail mail today.

Currently looking for relocation options in Westchester County. Anyone with a room share in the list range that could be in the January class that has something open that won't break the bank or know someone who does, please PM. Thx.

I think every single class goes through the same thing...people drop, people get singled out and people suck at pt. same thing, different class.

Despite it not having any real measure of the character of a person, there is no denying that if you get a 70 on this test, you have other issues. Honestly, this test was embarrassingly easy.

This is a red lever, this is a red lever, this is a red lever..... what is this?

    A) Potato
    B) 1535
    C) The Louisiana purchase
    D) A red lever
    E) All of the above

I don't know what you mean, that test was a brain buster! But yeah, I guess the point is that the test was so insanely easy that if you didn't get at least a 90 on it you probably shouldn't be trusted around heavy machinery.

Haha I was just thinking the same thing.. You would literally had partial credits on ALL The personal questions to get a 70 lol ( if you aced the first 4 parts obviously). That is pretty embarrassing

Yeah, I mean part 5 was truly insightful. Just what IS the perfect number of friends to stay in contact with from high school? Obviously its the same answer whether you are 19 or 34, or have since moved out of state.
