I have tried calling my investigator this week and it went to voice mail but the name of the investigator was actually different. She sounded like the same person but completely different last name. Anyone else's investigators last name suddenly change ? I'm going to try and call the general investigations number tomorrow and get some answers.

    Lol

That's what I'm thinking but you hear so many horror stories about the investigators that you just want to make sure.

    @TomFromQueens
Honestly I still think no news is good news man I wouldnt sweat it, what I'm more worried about is my investigator asking me for a letter of support from my parents stating I was supported from them during a time of "unemployment" meanwhile the months she is asking for I was employed so go figure.

Anybody here ever see the FDNY rant forum? I was just browsing around, and came across that site. I guess it's a forum for members of FDNY, but they have a section for "next probie class"... Anyways, I read through it, and some of the suspicions we've had here, do seem true (problems proving residency points, and the schedule of classes going to new class every 20 weeks)... Some other sections that look real interesting.

    First off, Happy Easter/Passover.

Secondly, i saw a buddy today who is in the class now and we were talking about the slight possibility of me being in the July class. I informed him that the class would be going in on the 14th and he gave me some troubling news. He said that they will not let you do the run unless you are 21 years old,(apparently for insurance reasons, not sure if true) and since the run comes usually about a week or 2 before that start of the class and I turn 21 on July 12, I might be screwed. I always figured they would let me do the run under 21, because it wouldn't really matter. Obviously i would not be able to be on the FDNY payroll until i am 21, but if this is true I would be livid over the fact that they made it as far as my number and I missed the cut by a week. Anyways, does anybody have any sort of input on this? Anyone in the same boat or know someone with a similar situation? Thanks

(P.S. I love this running weather)

All I can tell you is that if you google image searched "FDNY candidate livid" you would most likely see a whole bunch of people, most nearing or past 30 yrs old, smashing their heads against computers who have been after this for about 8 years now.

I always thought it was that you had to be 21 by the day of appointment so why wouldnt they let you do the run? Just my opinion, but I would look into the qualifications that are listed on the application or maybe the FDNY website, they may list info there.

Yeah, I agree. That site seems like more guys OTJ who have their kids trying to get on.. But they do seem to have some inside knowledge that might not make its way into this forum.. Also, the section on the Rock is pretty cool. They talk about dif training ideas and things like that..

The FDNY rant is harder to disguise at work, the bright red & yellow bring too much attention.

You will learn that nothing In life comes easy. I've wanted this job for aslong as I knew what fdny was. I was too young to the take the test with my peers because I was not 17 1/2. The following test in 2007 was thrown away and now I'm gonna be 29 this summer and I'm still waiting around. Your situation isn't great but just be happy you will have the opportunity to still be hired eventually and be able to this at a younger age.

I was bored the other day and was looking up the list #s of people who posted #fdnyfit on instagram. Alot of them are outside the realm of possibility, which just motivates me to do more since I haven't been training as hard as I should.

Yea man 20 weeks isn't anything in the grand scheme of things. Just make sure you bring it to your investigators attention how soon you'll be turning 21 they'll know what to do. And if they say wait then you know you're a lock for the next class. I say work and save money for the academy and do some traveling this summer. Enjoy being 21 for a few months, says another 29 year old 6019 reject. The wait will be worth it

Now that the weather is finally warming up, is anyone in the Williamsburg/ Greenpoint areas up for early morning runs? Before work, I'm talking early morning PT hours... I normally try to get in btw 4 and 5Mi. Hey it releases endorphins that lead to a better day, makes the wait time for the academy seem that much shorter.

    Hey bro.

As a fellow young guy, gotta look out for the upcoming young guys. A lot of jokes in this academy will go over your head. Just laugh and nod and you'll be alright haha.

As for your problem, there's a guy in our class born in 1993. That means he turned 21 sometime before Jan 27th of this year. He must've been in almost the same situation as you. I'll ask him how we went about it. They may or may not let you do the run but definitely bring this up to your investigator and see what they think you should do.

    Good luck

    Default Orientation Packet

Does anyone know about what list # has been reached for the orientation packets? I've been looking through the last few pages but can't find it.

I'm ~2400 so want to make sure I didn't miss it.
