What about a notarized letter from your parents stating that you were a dependent?

im not to hung up on it, but would be kind to at least give two weeks, maybe a little more

Yea same dude. I have W-2s, HS transcript, statements from a CD account (hopefully they take those), and I can get a notarized letter. Beyond that I'd be royally effed.

You should be good man because on the NOE it states we only need two types of proof..I got my GED, and Bank account statements of the year they asked for. So I should be good too. Besides that I can have my mother write a letter and all that. In regards to that, how do you get a letter officialy notarized?

See if the bank you go to has an employee that is a notary. They'll do it for you.

You might have to pay a small fee if you don't have an active account with that particular one. Although, I walked into Chase last week for a notary and the lady at the front desk didn't even ask for my bank card or acct info.

Pretty sure you can go to most banks or even law offices. Usually there's a small fee and I'm pretty sure both parties (you and parent) need to be present for it to be officially notarized.

As far as I know, to take the eye exam given, you are not allowed to wear your prescription glasses or contacts for the eye exam they administer. (Ive read of some people managing to slip by this some how) the required vision ability is 20/40. I wouldnt take chances with this. I had horrible vision and was required to wear glasses for years, i never did. Found out that you couldnt wear glasses or contacts for the job, I saved up money and had the Lasek eye surgery done. It was a bit pricey, ill admit, but one of the best doctors in NYC, top rated, and shown on the news, with the best technolegy to date performed my surgery. Actual surgery took 10 minutes. 20/15 vision since then, no problems. Highly recomend this guy. He has done plently of FF candidates that came to him for this specific reason lol. It was totaly worth it. If you want the job, you will do whatever it takes, or so they say lol

My lasik eye surgeon offers free consultation too. Really cool italian guy, office is in the city, really fancy spot. He checks your eyes and tells you if your a candidate for the surgery. He will also give you a price, he will work with you, he finiances as well. If anybody wants further info on this feel free to PM me or email me @ Gianni1028@aol.com

You are allowed to wear prescription glasses for the eye exam part of the medical. I used mine last Spring.

I don't think that is true any more, pretty sure you can wear contacts on the job or for the test

They don't care about glasses. Wear em, or don't when taking the eye exam.

    Reasoning:
    1) There are glasses inserts for the SCBA face piece (don't know if the job will pay for this).
    2) You aren't going to need 20/40 vision when in a smoke filled hallway, so whether or not your uncorrected vision is that good is irrelevant.

I for one can attest to make sure you are not that guy who forgets his gloves ever.

I went through the Ems academy in January, metal dumbbells sitting outside in 20 degree or less temperatures will make your hands go painfully numb in 30 seconds or less.

    Don't be that guy.
