Those are the actual residency documents from 2010-11. I haven't had to show any "current" residency than what I showed back in April. I have the checklist that she signed off on, so I'm sure they've just gotten misplaced and my folder went through review. If anything this is a testament to all that just because you showed all of your papers, keep everything together. I thought I was good, turns out I wasn't, but I knew right where to go to pull out my paperwork.

Here's something for you. From THE chief. No overlapping classes. 2 a year and that's it.

My friend is in the 300's. He wants to defer to the next class. Does he still have to do the run and then defer?

I would suspect that you can defer at any point in the process, especially seeing that some guys at the top of the list could possibly still be active duty/deployed/etc., but definitely feel this would best be answered by C.I.D. He may want to expedite his request seeing that things are starting to really swing into motion.

My friend was hired from the 1991 exam. He deferred 3 times because the pay was low and wasn't sure if he wanted to do it. Finally got hired in 1999 and now he's studying for the captains exam

Not that it's any of my business but why your friend wants to differ at this point of the process ... Where it's almost crucial and full of suspense and anxiety ???...

After a number of speculative theories, I think I've come to a conclusion as to why list numbers in the 2300's were reached while the department only plans on sending two academies per year.

I think the January 2014 academy will reach a list number in the high 800's/low 900's. That being said, about 1400 candidates will have begun the process and, in my humble opinion, will occupy ALL of the second academy of 2014.

I think that we will hear of candidates in the 3500's receiving packets in the middle of 2014 and candidates in the 4700's receiving theirs this time next year.

    What do you guys think?

How far do you think they will get down the list before they finish hiring. They say anyone with a score above 97 is good. I wonder how true that is

I hope so. I would really love to be going to an academy by late 2015/early 2016. Your numbers make pretty good sense to me, so I guess we'll see what happends in these next two classes...

They said they're looking to hire 2,400 firefighters over 4 years. I use a 1:3.5 hiring ratio because everyone says 1:3 or 1:4 so I try to be as straight down the middle that I can. Here's a breakdown of how I think this will go and the numbers that will be touched:

    Class
    1/2014 (Recycles/PH's/OC)
    #900
    2/2014 (OC)
    #2020
    1/2015 (OC)
    #3140
    2/2015 (OC)
    #4260
    1/2016 (OC)
    #5380
    2//2016 (OC)
    #6500

Typical attrition is around 10% and with these numbers, plus the ~500 that have already made it, this would bring the total number hired by this lists exhaustion to 2,228. (6 academies of 320(.90) + 500)

The ratio will get higher as the list goes on. I cannot see a ratio of 1:3.5 for the next 3 or so years, but I could be wrong... I also think the list is good till 2017, so you could probably add an additional class or two.

Here's what I am thinking (and I think this is conservative, assuming no major hiccups from special interest groups, etc..):
    Class
    1/2014 (Recycles/PH's/OC)
    #700
    2/2014 (OC)
    #2000
    1/2015 (OC)
    #3300
    2/2015 (OC)
    #4700
    1/2016 (OC)
    #6100
    2//2016 (OC)
    #7600
    1/2017 (OC)
    #9100

I read the article and it's funny how she complaining that the Training is getting harder .. And that's what I want .. I want it to be harder so it can weed out the ones not fit enough ... I'll make sure ill train to pass ...
One of the videos I posted is about a model ... He said it clear there's only one type of fire ... Men / women should both be able to do the same training ... If not then you don't qualify ...

How does the deferment process work? Do you meet with your investigator and sign a piece of paper? How do you get reinstated?

Anybody who defers with the threat of another possible lawsuit or some other b.s. issues that could pop up with the current lawsuit is a simpleton(nicest possible way I could put it).

I figured out the same exact time frames lol. Well listen, hopefully it's somewhat accurate. Unless they just send out packets to everyone that got a certain score, and not do it based on list # order (if that makes sense)
