Look....I'm just a lowly fireman.....but I wouldn't tell them anything they don't SPECIFICALLY ask for. That's all. Just don't offer info if it's unsolicited.

The job doesn't want any liability later on. If they can bounce you from the process because you might cost them money later, they will.

Think they'll make a big deal about hernia surgery? It's in my records, so I can't just forget it. Was over 10 years ago though.

I asked this question earlier.."Quick question, For the medical, second portion, during warm-up, if your heart rate 'still' exceeds double the resting heart, would they allow you to continue with vest?" Someone on here says they do asked mentor he says they don't. When I was there for the first part of the medical my hr was 155 at the end of warm up, resting heart rate was 140. If anyone can provide insight on this feel free to pm.

    why x 2?

resting is just the bpm of your heart.
    the max is 220-(your age) x .9

How is the classroom training at The Rock? It's 1 test a week if I heard correctly.. but on an average day how much time are you actually in a classroom?

On the FIRST medical day you can't go over double your resting heart rate. Your resting heart rate was 70 so you couldn't go over 140 during the warm up. If you fail the warm up portin you don't get a chance to put the vest and do the 5:12 min. You get to put the vest on if you pass the warm up.

If you fail the first medical day then you have to reschedule for a SECOND day. On the second medical you do the warm up and your heart rate is irrelevant. Then you do the stairs with the vest on and if you don't go over 90% of your max heart rate then they stop the machine and you pass. If you are over 90% of your heart rate then you continue to stay on the machine until you complete 8 minutes and don't look like your about to pass out.

    Default Lessons learned

For all you guys getting ready for January here is the main lesson I learned from my first week at the rock.

Fitness runs everything. If you are not in shape you're going to be hurt and tired. If you're hurt and tired you can't study. Then you fall behind and will struggle the whole time.

If I turned back time six months I would put down the weights now! Do a cross training, boot camp or crossfit type work out (no Olympic lifts) then run 2-3 miles. Do it 3-5 days a week. If you don't **** will suck.

    Good luck!

No I missed that. I am still stunned how many people end up going to the hospital.
