    Default Central Contractor Registration (CCR)

Holly crap! Has anyone tried to register yet, as is the new requirement if awarded in 2011?

There are so many questions that just don't pertain to our volunteer group and the application will not proceed until they are answered.

Business types and construction bonding levels, Business start date? What do they want, the day our volunteer fire dept was founded. 1898 but not sure of the day!

Good grief this is worse than getting the AFG grant going. At least their questions make since.

    Oh yeah! Take a look:

NEW THIS YEAR: GRANT RECIPIENTS MUST REGISTER IN THE CENTRAL CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION (CCR) SYSTEM

As of August 2010, prime recipients of Federal grants are required to register in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) system. As a potential grantee you are not required to register, but you may wish to do so now in case you receive an award. CCR registration will be required if you are selected for an award.

    How to register:

Obtain a DUNS number from Dun and Bradstreet: http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform. A DUNS number is a required to submit an application. If you already have a DUNS number, skip to #2.
Once you have a DUNS number, register here: https://www.bpn.gov/ccr/default.aspx.
For more information on grantee registration in the CCR system, visit their website:
    https://www.bpn.gov/ccr/grantees.aspx

You must renew and revalidate your registration at least every 12 months from the date you previously registered. However, you are strongly urged to revalidate your registration more frequently to ensure that CCR is up to date and in sync with changes that may have been made to DUNS and IRS information. If you do not renew your registration, it will expire. An expired registration will affect your ability to receive contract awards or payments, submit assistance award applications via Grants.gov, or receive certain payments from some federal government agencies.

At first I was not real happy about frequent revalidating, but when registering I discovered an issue with our DUNS#

So I will be revalidating often

It is so confusing with the info they are asking for. Business start date? 1898! Sorry I don't remember the exact day! Sorry, you can't move further until you do.
I know it is going to get harder and harder to get funded but this is just adding a bunch of additional nonsense! IMHO

On the CCR subject, does each DUNS # the organization has need to be attached? The City is registered, but the FD uses its own DUNS #. Will that fly?

I would think you'd go strictly with the FD. But like I said, I 'm still trying to find the day in 1898 that our dept started their "business" so that I can get off the second page of the forms......

Someone gets it completed they should become a forum guru.................

If you still have some members on the rolls from 1898 you can ask them the start date. If you don't, I don't think anyone will be able to check, so why not just use January 1, 1898?

I had to do it for the fire station grant, I would not bother unless you are awarded. It is a waste of time for potential awards.

Did three departments in three hours. Most of the questions relate to who runs the town. I could not tell you the exact date my department was organized. So I chose 01/01/1938.

    See.

This nothing more than government expanding upon government. It is out of control regulations is what this is. Its like if someone agency closes down and government needs to keep employment numbers up, they just form another needless agency.

This agency no more needs to exist no more than ACORN needed to be funded by the feds.

Socialism is out of control and headed our way.

AND why does SAFER need to be funded equal to AFG? With so many municipalities returning their awards. I would say 405 million for SAFER should be halved at least. That is unless they are going to make the participation a little easier. (which I doubt)

    sorry, still blowing off steam.

    CCR, what a crock!
