I'll do that and know I want this. I can't wait to take orders.

It doesn't call for it with the info we got in the mail, but do we need blue t-shirts or will they be provided?

Thanks so much for all the info. I know you firefighters care about who works in the PFD for the right reasons, I'll show that I want this for the right reasons and have prepared for it.

You will be provided specific t-shirts. PT gear you have to purchase from the academy. Just follow every printed instruction to the letter until told otherwise. Good Luck!

Any of you guys know how to apply these 3 points for your emt on the test. Human resources is not answering and everyone else just redirects me there. I didn't obtain reciprocity until after I turned in my app. I've got the cert and everything now though

I've also got 3 extra points for my EMT, where will this be applied exactly on the civil service exam? Obviously, I can get a max of 103, but if this is applied only toward the Fire test and for whatever reason I don't do well on the personality section, can my score really drop me to a 100? I saw how if you got a 100 on the last test you were parked with about 2000 other people.
The Fire knowledge portion of the test is pass/fail. If you pass, the WSI is scored. That is your test score. Any extra added points (veterans preference, EMT, FF1) are added to your test score.

The current list had approximately 1,100 people score 100 on the WSI. Those that had added points were all either hired or had the opportunity to be hired. Everyone else with 100 was ranked according to a computer generated random number.

If you live in or near Philly, I would make the trip to the Municipal Services Building and hand deliver your cert to Human Resources.

This is what I ended up doing. Big pain in the butt it was. Went to Municipal, they sent me to city hall, then city hall sent me back to Municipal at which time I stated "Human Resources 15th floor". Best advice to anyone that wants the extra points.

Go to the Municipal Building in front of City Hall (the one with the weird modern art thing in front). Tell the guard at the front "I need to see Human Resources on the 15th floor". Bring your CPR card, Your EMT card (or cert). And it should be done.

Now I play the waiting game for the study guide, thanks a bunch BigGuyPhilly. I'm considering going the extra mile and paying 150 to test for my Proboard FF1, but It's on Oct 19, and I'm not sure if I'd get the results/card that says I passed in time for the Nov 16th test. Any tips at all for the WSI test? I've never taken one before, but I figure I shouldn't answer "Not sure" for any of them, and answer only with a few "Strongly" responses to not appear overly aggresive.

Any chance they pull another class off this test? I know they're testing again next month but our list shouldn't be up until the spring and if I remember correctly they won't have a class of the 2013 list ready to put in to the academy until at least the middle of the summer.

Only the shadow knows. Seriously, the only thing consistent with the people in the current city administration is that they are inconsistent.

Study guide and practice tests are out under your completed application. Just a load of simple information, made myself flash cards of the first part tonight. Gonna continue until I got flashcards of the whole study guide.

How long does it take until the test results come out ? Do they email them out as soon as they get them or is it like the military where their is a website to get the results before they announce them ?

Check the previous Philly thread, IIRC it was 6-8 weeks.
