Have you ever seen the speed in which the City decides that:
    -something needs to be fixed
-why does it need to be fixed
-how does it need to be fixed
-can we fix it with in-house personnel for how much?
-if we cant fix it, how much will it cost to farm out
-do we have to request bids
    -write the specs
    -advertise the RFP
    -receive and open the bids
-reject the first round, costs too much
    -write specs again
    -advertise again

.........you see where this is going???

    THIS.

Plus, look at the construction of the new firehouse for [Q]WT38 here; they designed it with a second floor "community room" for the neighbors to have meetings in, etc. Only problem was, they forgot - new public building, must comply with ADA - they didn't have an elevator for access. Then they redesign, and start to build; had the concrete poured and all, and had to rip it all out and start from scratch because they found the low bidder used sub-standard concrete. The only way that surprises me is that I almost expect them to complete the station and open it, THEN find that type of fatal flaw in the construction.
Opinions expressed are mine alone, and do not necessarily reflect those of the Philadelphia Fire Department and/or IAFF Local 22.

Hopefully, this won't delay letters going out for orientation. I know it was mentioned that they were going out in the near future, but does anyone know if that means this month? Next month?

Understandable. On a side note in the back of my mind i think there will be more to this process. I dont think it will end with just a new entry exam.

Spoke to someone in the personnel department regarding the appeals process and the only answer I could get out of her was that we will receive written reponses in a week or two. I have more questions than answers so I HOPE this is true and that the response will ACTUALLY be helpful. Lawsuits or not, fair or not fair I think we all deserve answers and at this point that is all I want even if I won't like them.

BTW I wouldn't go by what some journalist says from cbs philly...

Here is a question to some of the guys that have already been through Philadelphia's academy. I have been running here and there for awhile, but the majority of my cardio training is done on a stepmill. Do you guys believe that running would better prepare oneself for the academy, or would the stepmill get the job done just as well?

I have been running and doing a lot of arm/back and chest exercises. No stepmill for me yet but I think that is a good idea. I heard the academy you have to run a mile and a half.

Yeah, I'm thinking a combination of the two would be perfect. Especially since quite a bit of running I've heard is up and down the tower.

I just found out the city DOESN'T have my appeal and I sent it certified. The woman is looking for it and wouldn't answer any of my questions on the phone. WTF!

No, she didn't tell me how many nor did I ask. I just know I'm to expect my letter tomorrow or the day after, so I will update when I have it in hand.
