Nice..I was in the last month of EMT class when we took the test..missed out on 3 points :(
Is anyone else getting page not found when trying to access https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp for the criminal background check?
Yes ... i had to google the patch site
The site is down for maintenance for a few days
I called the help line and they advised it should be back up on Tues or Wed. Talk about cutting it a little close, i will see you guys in a few weeks.
Did not recieve a letter but wasnt expecting one, this early anyway. Good luck to all the vets. You definitely deserve it.
Seems obvious this 1st round was for vets and very low ranks

I have received my letter as well, I am reading the letter as we are only to have the PA PATCH backroud and the given paper work that we recieved in the packet. Am I exspected to get ANYTHING else before the orientation?
How formal should one dress for orientation?
Yes, it doesn't say how to dress. If you go in shorts and flip-flops......you will be remembered. If you attend orientation dressed like a professional, seeking to be a professional Firefighter...that will also be remembered. You have one opportunity to make a first impression. So why not go get a fresh haircut and be clean shaven too? Put your best foot forward. You can't go wrong in dress pants and a nice pressed dress shirt. Please don't constrew these comments as being a smart-a**. I am trying to be helpful. It seems to me a lot of you younger guys are anxious about this process and that's how most of these posts read. And I understand that. Just relax...this whole process will take a few months to complete. It looks like the height and weight chart is just "information". I am sure they will give us everything we need to know at orientation. Just fill out the paperwork they sent us and report there. I might also suggest to arrive early. If you walk in late...that too will be remembered. Again, good luck to everyone!
I have to agree with FWDbuff.
While I understand everyone who received a letter is excited - it is pretty clear that some of you are not qualified and did not score high enough to legitimately have received a letter (those ranked in the 1000's to 1,200's). I can only speculate, but I'm pretty sure I won't be the only one to question whether you got the job on merit or by some other means.
While I'm sure you want to take advantage of this opportunity, you're doing so at the expense of those men who scored higher (i.e. more qualified for the position) than yourselves. Don't think this fact will go unnoticed by both your fellow classmates and current PFD firefighters. People aren't too welcoming of those who were in essence handed the position, when their lives may depend on those people.
You are basically taking advantage of a test/hiring process that was broken even before it started. If any of you actually cared about the quality of the ppl getting on the job you wouldn't cut in front of those 800 or so ppl who are more qualified than yourselves.
On another note, I appreciate your sharing this information with the forum. How candidates ranked in the 1200's are receiving letters will almost certainly be one of the first questions in the next union meeting...
The fact that people are asking what clothes to wear to what is basically a job interview is all you really need to know about the intelligence level of this class.
