I don't know about 187 but PT for 186 is rough... But it prepares you for the daily grind of being out in the field...

You will do a lot of push-ups - pull-ups - burpees. Man listen the PT is intense. But you will learn to love it.

Can anyone chime in on whether or not Wednesday's Committee hearing will put a hold on anything?

    Forced transfers going through......

A lot of my friends are getting transferred all over the city, but it's because there are 320 newbies coming into the field (160 minus those that dropped out so actually like 150+ next month) Which means another 160 to come in 2013

Soon the guy with the most time at the station will have 4-5 years there. Barely enough time to know the local and the rest of the gyuys as good as he could. And about the time you're getting comfortable with everything, BANG your 5 years is up and you get to "experience" a new part of the city.

You all had better hope the union pulls off a miracle and gets this policy stopped. It's just another piece of the assault on the members for not supporting mayor nutsack.

Oh I know, I was posting to show what "their" excuse is.....and to give hope to those still waiting for future classes that vacancies will eventually be filled. My buddy is getting shanghighed to another part of the city that he's never been in, and they are receiving a guy with 15 years in. Seniority and experience is one thing, but breaking up crew integrity and moving guys with incredible amounts of local knowledge is another....

How exactly does he know where he is going and who's replacing him?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Now THAT is hilarious!! If you're "concerned" about 2 mins of pushups, you're going to be in serious shock... PT is a solid hour+ It's hardcore and nonstop. We push you till you either quit or find that little thing in your mind that won't let you quit. Those are the only two options. Being big and muscular isn't what we want. Having heart and giving everything you've got plus more is what we're looking for....of course, being big and muscular will help...

Can anyone give insight into the requirements for promotion from Ff to LT? Time in service, college, etc?

    Any word on letters?

Also, I think ties are broken by seniority....
Thanks fuss.. Merry Christmas to you and your fam.

Hey, another quick question..Does PFD have some sort of recall protocol? as in, in the event of a major incident do they call back people to back fill stations/apparatus? or is there like a detail for that? like, this battalion is subject to recall for this period of time.

Heard there will be no classes until after the fiscal year, so we are looking at July for the earliest possible 188 class

Honestly, it's best if we start taking all our eggs out of this basket. The fact that this class was "supposed" to start it feb, march, may,June, now July leads me to believe that they won't put another class through. In all honesty, the city can't even agree on a contract....what makes anyone think they will find the money to put in another 1-2 classes. ESP now with someone posting the hiring advertisement which also leads me to believe they won't be hiring off this list again.

I'm over it, all of you need to get your mind right and get into the mindset of if it happens great, if not.. Great. Go to school, keep working out and keep testing elsewhere.

I hope everyone's Christmas went well. And happy new year.

Thanks big griff but no one knows anything just like last time! Are you in the hiring process this time? There are going to be rumors just like last time. All anyone who is back in the hiring process can do is wait for a letter whether its now or later.

Also the hiring advertisement is for the next test which if this list is good for 2 years this November it would be time for a new test. 2011 was the test you took for this list so that explains that.

I think the city will hire the next 2 classes off of this list (the people they interviewed already)
