bulging disk - how to work out?
I got a bulging disk in the lumbar, plus 2 crooked lumbar vertebrae. I've been told "No" to: running, kettlebell swings, anything loading a lot of weight on the spine (squats, presses, jerks, weight vest).
Anybody recommend anything I can do until this disc resolves?

I have two discs that like to remind me they are still there occasionally. When that happens, my chiro treats me with heat and has me get on the back-press machine starting at light weight/frequent reps and slowly works me up to weight with less reps, usually over a 2-3 week period."Loyalty Above all Else. I have a herniated L-3 that I should have treated while it was only bulging but I let it go until it was too late.
My P.T for the disc also included the back press (backwards sit-ups) and lots of exercises to strengthen the upper legs and upper back muscles to take the weight off the disc/back.
Just remember that the machines are called resistance machines for a reason. Go slow and try to hold the machine back as long and slow as possible. I go to my local Planet Fitness 3 times a week now and do what I was taught in P.T. and I love the young'ins that think you have to do all the machines real fast. Slow and steady wins the race and improves your muscle tone.
If your health care will cover it, see a P.T. now before it gets worse.
