    Default SCOTT COUNTY KY Hiring

    THE SCOTT COUNTY (KY) FISCAL COURT is accepting applications for the position of FIREFIGHTER/EMT. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the protection of lives and property through fire suppression and prevention activities, first responder emergency medical care, and maintenance of fire stations, apparatus, and equipment. Work schedule is 24 hours on duty, followed by 48 hours off duty.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    • Valid driver’s license from current state of residence
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • 21 years of age by filing date (August 19, 2011).
    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
    • Kentucky Commission on Fire Protection Standards and
    education career firefighter incentive program (400 hour)
    certification.
    • Valid Kentucky Emergency Medical Technician certificate.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    • Annual starting pay $27,655.68 to $28,986.88 DOQ.
    • Kentucky Training Incentive: $3,100.00 annually
    • Kentucky Retirement Systems (CERS Hazardous Duty)
    • Competitive benefits, vacation, and sick leave.

    Default Is CPAT a requirement?

    I am interested in your department but I am not sure about taking the CPAT test. Do I need that to apply?

    If you have a valid KY CPAT card, we'll accept it. Otherwise, you will have to complete our physical agility test on August 27, 2011.

    Does your department use kelly days or is it strictly 24 on 48 off?

    No Kelly Day, work 24/48 hour rotation continously.

    Emails with time for physical agility to start coming out today (Thursday 8.18.2011) to those who have expressed interest. You are on the distribution list.

    Period for expressing interest in this process ends at 1600 hrs (Eastern time) Friday, 8.19.2011.

    I would hope that we will have the new hire in place by mid-October.

    One opening presently, list in effect for one year from date of first hire.

    Great, thanks so much! Planning to be down for the CPAT on the 27th. My confirmation letter was sent to me and I believe 7 others. I wonder if this was the only applicants....
