It seems that all 50 States allow you to acquire "Personalized" or "Vanity" Plates for your Car/Truck...... For an added Fee, of course. Maryland certainly does, and I've seen more that a few. A Friend, now deceased, had "Chief 8" on his Lincoln Town Car, and an Electrician in the area had"Volts"......... This past Sunday, I saw one from Massachusetts heading East on the Pa Turnpike...... "Lobstah".....Gonzo? was that you??.....
Anyway, anyone else know of any funny ones??......

I've seen some of the cars down the drag strip with stuff like "HEMI LOL" "TRY ME" "t1t1t1tt1t1" (hard to tell the difference between the t and the 1 in the font) and even as far as a Hand figure with the word "Job" after lol.

Negatory.. I do want a vanity plate for the Mustang and would have gotten one the last time the registration was due to be renewed, but Mrs. Gonz infomed me that she renewed it on line for me...

The plate I really want, "Gonzo" is taken
. One thing that RMV in Massachusetts has on their website is the ability to see if the spelling on the plate you want is available... the 'Stang is due to be renewed in 2012... I will have the plate I want, as I have a few variations that I will put in for!
Unfortunately , we are limited to 6 letters for a vanity lpate.Last edited by DeputyChiefGonzo; 08-16-2011 at 10:02 PM.

One teensy prob--plates that stick out like part of a dogs reproductive system--make sureyou do not annoy somebody that may decide your accidently cut off ploy may warrant a brake fluid bonnet(hood) job. Numbers can be easily forgotten--not so the "in your face" plate.
Just my cynical, devious, non trusting little self."If you thought it was hard getting into the job--wait until you have to hang the "fire gear"up and walk away!"

When I was very young, I remember one sports car (perhaps a Ferrari, or something exotic like that) with NJ tag said "CIAO MF". It was explained to me at the time, MF meant "My Friend" then "you'll understand when you're older".
Some of the guys have specific department related plates, most have something like:
Opinions expressed are mine alone, and do not necessarily reflect those of the Philadelphia Fire Department and/or IAFF Local 22.

Back in the Dark Ages(the late 80s) when USA Network ran mostly re-runs before developing their own shows, there was a game show that had contestants decode novelty license plates attributed to famous people and the like.It seemed to be a VERY old re-run show from the late 70s or early 80s but they always seemed to give away older model cars.I always suspected that they had a used car dealership next door that wanted the publicity.

"ILVTOFU" doesn't mean what people thought at the DMV."I love tofu" was the explanation given by the submitter.
And she can have my share of tofu.
