    Default NFPA 1001 Prereq?

I just got an email from the battalion chief of the department I'm trying to get on at. He said to volunteer I had to have NFPA 1001. I thought departments provide that training. Furthermore, I tried looking up to see what 1001 is and where I could get it but I can't find any information.

Can someone tell me if it's the same thing as FF I and where can I get the training if a department won't offer it? By the way, it's Rural/Metro Fire in Knoxville, TN.

It's a volunteer department and they require FFI before you can volunteer.

All VFDs that I have been associatted with train thier members.

On that note, I didn't know Rural/Metro had volunteers.
Train to fight the fires you fight.

Well, apparently I just found out Metro does have an academy specifically for part-timers every year in August, but I missed the boat this year. Metro may not have volunteers. They call them part-time, but they only get paid per call they respond to from home.

So anyway, looks like I'll be going with Karns Volunteer FD. Their training starts in September.
