What is everyones thought on resident or sleeper position? Will it help you in the long run? Does it look good on a resume?

I'm assuming that your are referring to living at a fire station in return for running calls for them. In my area, it's called a "live in" position.
I don't know if it'll really do much resume wise, but it can definitely be a worthwhile experience. I spent about 2 years doing the "live in" thing while going thru Paramedic class and a little while afterwards.

I was a resident for two years before I got hired. It was a lot of fun. Got some good experience, some free room and board while I was broke and testing, met some great friends.
It's not a ticket to getting hired but it will provide you with some good experience, maybe a certification (EMT, FF1, etc) or two, and a roof over your head while you seek out the job.
