From NECN: Melissa Touplin, reporter...
The latest addition to the Worcester, Mass. Fire Department arrived in the city on Friday - a ladder truck to be housed at the McKeon Road Station.
Ladder 5 is more than just a new piece of equipment. On Saturday morning, the firefighters will be dedicating it in honor of three fallen servicemen from Worcester.
The fire station sits on McKeon Road, named after the three McKeon brothers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Joseph and James were killed during World War II, and Robert was the first casualty from Worcester during the Korean War.
The McKeon Road street sign is different than others in the city. It's black with three gold stars, and it caught the attention of the firefighters.
Ed McKeon never met his uncles, who all died before he was born. He says the family is honored to have the fire department keep the memories of the men alive.
"We're proud of their service and pleased the community continues to remember them nearly 60 years later.
Lt. Don Courtney says the firefighters decided to replicate the street sign on the side of the ladder truck for all to see. According to Courtney, the department couldn't think of a better way to honor the city's heros than to have their name visible for years to come.

Worcester FD honrs 3 fallen servicemen
"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."
Lt. Ray McCormack, FDNY
